The season may only just be finished but Northamptonshire are already working towards next term and have added Faheem Ashraf to their side again. The Pakistan all-rounder will join for the first half of the campaign and will be available for all formats of the game until the end of the Twenty 20 group stage, having taken 11 wickets in last season Twenty 20 competition for the side.

Pakistan are touring England next summer and Ashraf will be expecting to join up with them ahead of their three tests and three T20 matches. Adam Rossington, the red-ball skipper for the county, said: “I think he’s definitely a genuine all-rounder, he’s a very good batsman and though we didn’t get to see him bat too many times in the T20 we know he’ll slot in well.
“He’s very skilful and offers something a little bit different to the bowlers we’ve got. It does tend to be a bit more bowler friendly here than in Pakistan, particularly with the Dukes ball so hopefully early season there’ll be a bit in the wickets for him.”
