Nine teams will compete for honours in the third edition of the Arian Football Tournament.
The competition which will commence on Saturday, May 4 is expected to be full of excitement and wonderful soccer artistry.
The participating teams have been divided into three teams.
Defending champions, Zenith Prudential Life will compete in Group A along with
NSIA Insurance Limited and AXA Mansard.
Former champions Mutual Benefits Assurance, Zenith General and Cornerstone are in Group B.
Group C consists of Coronation, AIICO and Tangerine.
All the matches will be played at the Nigeria Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NARFC) football field, Oshodi, Lagos.
NSIA and AXA Mansard will clash in the opening fixture on Saturday, May 4.
Holders Zenith Prudential will begin the defence of their title against NSIA on Saturday, May 11.
Arian National Publicity Secretary, Kayode Ogunwuyi said all logistics have been put in place for a successful tournament.
“Arian Football Tournament comprises of all Insurance agents in Nigeria, who are the participating teams,” Ogunwuyi said at a press conference held at the ARIAN office in Lagos.
“We want to showcase ourselves to the world and promote harmonius relationship among the various insurance companies.
“We started the first edition two years ago and had the second edition last year. It has been a remarkable journey so far and we hope the competition will become bigger.
“Football is a game that unites the people and society. Even enemies come together because of football. It is a powerful tool to unite all the various companies.
“Seven teams participated in the first edition and it was a fantastic experience for us.
“We had nine teams last year and we will also have the same number at the upcoming edition.”
The overall winners of the competition will go home with N500,000 and a giant trophy.
The second-place team will win a cash prize of N300,000, while the third-place team will be rewarded with N200,000.
There will also be individual awards for the Most Valuable Player and Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
The competition is put together by the Association of Registered Insurance Agents of Nigeria (ARIAN) in conjunction with Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN).
