Italy-born Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey who plays for Rangers, has been included in the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) Team of the Week, Completesports.com reports.
The Team of the Week was unveiled on the SPFL’s official website on Tuesday.
Bassey’s inclusion was due to his outstanding performance in Rangers’ 4-0 Cup win against Dunfermline Athletic at the weekend.

He was the standout performer for the league champions against Dunfermline, after losing their last three games going into the weekend encounter.
The 21-year-old, who was the only Rangers player selected, was placed on the left of a four-man midfield in the Team of the Week which is in a 3-4-3 formation.
And commenting on Bassey’s performance, SPFL wrote:”Rangers ended a three-game losing run with a devastating first-half performance against Dunfermline Athletic in the cup at Ibrox. The hosts were 4-0 up before the break en route to a 5-0 triumph. Bassey was the undoubted star man as his charging runs caused the visitors all sorts of problems.”
Bassey was part of Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side that won the league last season.
He is eligible to play for Italy, Nigeria or England at international level.

Best left back playing for a Rangers that cudnt negotiate their way past Malmo. Issokay o
Suddenly a regular starter for Porto is inferior to Bassey.
Its well
Lol
hahahahaha… abi o. any where belle face matter
But he did not play against malmo though
@ Abdul Bassey is an upcoming star with alot of Talent…..he is brave to go forward and strong to defend…..but he should be an understudy to Zaidu for the now….. Zaidu is SE number one left back…..Zaidu is world class and he is robbing shoulders with the best in the business…..Zaidu played UCL quarter finals last season with Porto against Juventus and he held his own perfectly well…. Collins will be the casualty here because he will lose his place to Bassey.
Yeah Calvin Bassey is an up coming talente who is fast developing and know how to read the game very well i have watch some of his games he is a model left back with great potential with no distance he will go to a higher club i just want him to continue working hard with focus i want him to be part of super eagles he is a great plus to the team.
