Mariam Eniola BolajI has won Team Nigeria’s first medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in the para badminton women’s singles SL3 event.
She defeated Kozyna Oksana of Ukraine 21-9, 21-9 in the bronze medal match.

Bolaji’s journey to the semi-final began from the group stage, where she won all three matches before progressing to the knockout stage.
She won India’s Mandeep Kahur (21-8, 21-14) in the opening match of the women’s singles SL3 category in Group B clash and secured a dominant victory against Australia’s Celine Aurelie Vinot, winning 21-8, 21-14 in the second group-stage clash.
She made history by becoming the 1st African para-athlete to make the semifinals of the para-badminton event at the 2024 Paralympics.
