    Nigeria vs Mozambique: Moffi Leads Attack; Dele-Bashiru, Torunarigha , Uzoho Start

    Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has kept faith with Francis Uzoho despite criticisms that trailed the goalkeeper’s performance against Saudi Arabia last weekend.

    Uzoho will be between the sticks in Nigeria’s friendly against the Mambas of Mozambique this afternoon at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira.


    Fenerbahce’s Bright Osayi-Samuel will start at right-back, while Jordan Torunarigha, who plays for Belgian Pro League club, KAA Gent will make his full debut.

    Torunarigha will pair Kenneth Omeruo at the heart of the defence. Bruno Onyemaechi has kept his place at left-back.

    Peseiro opted for a midfield combination of Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika, while new invitee, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Moses Simon will operate from the flanks.

    OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi will lead the attack and will be supported by Joe Aribo.

        Leaving him on the bench after a strong backlash by the super eagle fans for his sschoolboy howler against the Saudis will destroy his confidence.

      This is a friendly game and it is used to correct errors and avoid them in more important games..

      The last game exposed the deficiency of Uzoho and it is well established that a replacement is important but before that Decision can be made let us see him for the last Time, if he doesn’t do well in the first 45 mins let him kiss goodbye to the team , dropping him entirely might totally destroy his self confidence by the way we are playing a side above First 100 in the fifa ranking… It is good decision to start Uzoho for me for his already distorted self confidence but let us see okoye in the second half..

      Another player is aribo.. he doesn’t deserve to start but let’s see him one Last time especially playing against Mozambique, if he still cannot do well he should be permanently drooped..

      Also a Jordan is finally given a chance to perform.. if he doesn’t do well against a Mozambique then he has no business in the team, same with a Kenneth omerue..

      I expect a good game today especially from Simon.. he will show chukwueze and co what it takes to play on the wing.

        Alright but the aim was not achieved bro which means denying other GK the opportunity of showcasing what they are capable of. If Uzoho should stand between our post during AFCON, guess what? We won’t make it to the round of 16. It is a bitter truth to take in.

        Now that Pesero didn’t give other GK opportunities, if anything happens to Uzoho pre AFCON and he can’t make it, please who is the other guy that we can rely on?

        It is easier to say, I will win AFCON but the reality is, it is far from the truth with all the games that I am seeing even during our qualifications.

      Aside the frekick blunder by Uzoho he was very impressive with his ball distribution and recovery.. he saved his team with a lovely save in the first half before he lost his mind probably he was thinking of his wife and kids when that free kick was taken..

      Let’s look at other areas of his game and not focus on a singular error.. even the best of goalkeepers make mistakes sometimes.. did we noticed he played well with his feet in the last game?

      I think what is affecting Uzoho is the fact that he stays on the bench for his team , if he was match fit, those errors will have been worked upon or difficult to commit..

      He needs to move away from his current club and find someone he can get regular game time even if it means going to Saudi League but that performance against their team would have made it difficult for him.. Uzoho needs to play in his club..

      For the Afcon we must find a goalkeeper who plays regularly in his team if we can stand any chance of getting the cup,, okoye will not do any better, he is also not playing for his club.. Adeboye or what is his name’ is too short for a modern goalkeeper.. I just read today there is someone in Sweden in saheed who plays regularly for his club and willing to play for Nigeria.. I checked his age and discovered he is 31 yrs which is not bad for a goalkeeper.. it is a matter of emergency he should be called up in the next games.. our coach is not doing his job well in the goalkeeping position.. how in the world will you invite two bench warmers in Europe ,, when we have other options in Europe.

      God job coach for choosing Uzoho again. It’s good for his confidence. I pray Mozambique can give him lots of work to do. I want another opportunity for Okoye too, really want to see what he has learnt in Udinese.
      If we can’t get Atubolu, Tobias Lawal, Arthur Okonkwo , Rasheed and the coach doesn’t believe in Osigwe, then we don’t have choice than to support them during these their hard times.

      I just saw the team list for those on the bench and chukwueze is absent..

      I think I Love this decision, he seems not to be serious with his game of recent.. after missing his chance he was laughing like he came to joke when players like tella and co and begging for their chance..

      I expect the coach to drop some more players in the next squad for games in November.. if need be Musa should be reinvited, Musa has always been dedicated and takes his Game seriously.. I’m glad he is testing bashiru in the wings today, iwobi can also play on the wings.. drop players who fail to perform and give other players a chance in the team..
