Enyimba striker Brown Ideye has berated the standard of Nigeria Premier Football League saying it is not getting better that there is still a long way to go.
Ideye returned to the Nigeria league after signing for Enyimba in December 2024.
He featured for the Aba Elephants in NPFL and CAF Confederation Cup games and has scored two goals.
Speaking on his impression about the league since his return, Ideye said a lot of things still need to improve.
“The system is getting worse, the league is not getting better, I feel like we have a long way to go in the league,” He said in an interview after Enyimba’s 2-0 defeat to Kwara United in Wednesday’s rescheduled matchday 16 NPFL game in Ilorin.
“For me I feel like my time in Enyimba has been wonderful but there’s a lot of things in the league that has to improve that is yet to improve.”
The former West Brom striker also talked about the dismal performance of Nigerian clubs in CAF competitions.
He highlighted things that need to be in place before Nigerian clubs can do well on the continent.
“In terms traveling bad, in terms of feeding bad, in terms of hotel bad, in terms of how the players relax bad. We Nigerians are not ready for continental, we should put our house together before we can go play continental instead of going there to disgrace ourselves.”
Enyimba crashed out in the group stage of the CAF after losing 3-1 to Zamalek in their final game.
Ideye has so far scored two goals in the four games he has played for Enyimba.
