The National Basketball Association (NBA) Nigeria, hosted its inaugural junior NBA/WNBA Elite Camp on Monday, July 15 in Lekki, Lagos.
The elite camp which attracted over 40 boys and girls coincided with the US President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagment’s first visit to Nigeria.

The Vice- President, NBA NIgeria Gbemisola Abudu explained that the camp was aimed at identifying and nurturing talents who aspire to do exploits in basketball, adding that the camp exercise would be once in every quarter of the year.
“For NBA Nigeria, we intend to do this once a quarter going forward so that young kids all round Nigeria can come together as long as they are playing basketball and they want to acquire more skills,” she was quoted while speaking with newsmen.
“They get the opportunity to come and showcase their skills for them to be selected.”
Also, two-time WNBA All star, Chiney Ogwumieke stressed that camp would help the teeming basketball players achieve their dreams of becoming professional players.
“I am able to be back home,” she said.
“To be able to represent the game that I love and see that these young people that have dreams, definitely are big and do everything in our power to support them.”
