Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has said NFF president Ibrahim Gusau is afraid to decide on the fate of Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro.
Speaking as a special guest on a world-exclusive interview organised by Gbamm! Loving Football last Thursday, Gusau disclosed that the NFF would conduct an opinion poll where fans will decide whether Peseiro should remain as Super Eagles coach or go.
“Actually we have that plans to put it in front of Nigerians, to hear their views because we try the foreign and local coaches and it seems we are having some kind of problem,” Gusau said.
“Maybe we did not get it right – with the right person. We are surely going to push it to the public to hear their views on whether we should continue with Peseiro or he should go.”
Reacting to the opinion poll being considered by the NFF, Udeze urged Gusau to be the one to take the decision and not football fans.
“It’s not suppose to be like that for the NFF president to say fans should decide whether Jose Peseiro should stay or go because his contract will expire June 30,” Udeze said on Sports Breakfast Show on Brila FM.
“For me the NFF president is afraid to take that decision, he’s afraid to take the decision whether the coach should stay or go, he should take a decision.“
On whether Peseiro should remain as Super Eagles coach, Udeze backed the Portuguese to remain.
He added:”I think for me since he has qualified the Super Eagles for next year’s AFCON he should be retained.“

Gusau is not afraid. He is Mr. Clueless.
Yes! That’s actually my THOUGHTS since he QUALIFIED us already he should stay
You are so right. He should stay to finish the job.
What is this stupidity that journalist and football stakeholders are talking about.
I don’t understand.
Anytime coaches aren’t doing well, everyone would be complaining and this complaints would last like forever. People would be saying that the NFF is not listening.
OAP’s and Football journalist would be dishing out advises of all sort; ‘sack the coach’, ‘hire a competent one’, ‘this formation is not good’, ‘use this and that formation’, and blah blah blah……..
Now the NFF has put it into your hands and you stupid lots are complaining, ‘ the fans shouldn’t decide,’
What the hell do you all want!!!!
And for your information, it is not only in Nigeria that the of coach is instigated by the fan.
Club football fans do the same too.
Fans even demand for the board to resign. Look at what is happening at everton. Kenwright has left is position.
The was a time man u fans wanted Ole out, and they had banners with ‘Ole out’ on them. Same thing with almost any underperforming coach.
DON’T MIND THEM. IT IS BECAUSE OF DIRTY DEAL IN THE CONTRACT SO THAT PASEIRO WILL NOT EXPOSE THEM( PINNICK, FORMER MINISTER, DARE & CURRENT NFF) JUST LIKE THE WAY GORA ERICKSSON, ROHR EXPOSED THEM.
IN CASE YOU FORGET, ERICSSON SAID IN HIS BOOK HE LAUNCHED, THAT HE WAS TOLD TO OPEN TWO BANK ACCOUNT IF HE WANT TO LAND SUPER EAGLE JOB
I think Pesiero must go, why? cause he has many failings and faults which on Super Eagles technical sides, just as he negelected defensive side like he did not play with strong and good covrage on defensive midfield and center back; he did not select a good players on defensive side, he must recalled like Igho Ugbo to make oyibo with like Tosin Adarabioyo; he must recall Anderson Esiti or Usman Mohammed as strong defensive midfielders, they play strong football with good coverage, pressing on the rival; Pesiero did not select a right wing scorer like Gift Orban instead of failed Samuel Chukwueze who wasted many goals, he also might have recalled Europe Leauge Victor Boniface; he might have played 4-2-3-1 as follows Osayie Samuel,Omeuro, Ajayi, Sanusi; Ndidi,Nuwchukwu; Iwobi,Simon Moses,Ademola Lukman ; Osimhen.NFF must hire a vetern foriegn coach, I suggest France coach like Cluade Le Roye or Jaquet Santini or Eme Jaquet or indigenous coach like vetern Emmanuel Amunike assited with Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorunmo and Amusa Idissa or Michael Emenalo who is an assitant coach in one of England club.
Why not also conduct opinion poll on whether fans what you to be NFF president or not.
When you think you’ve see the dumbest and most Senseless type of leadership and management, just wait for the NFF to show you you’ve not seen anything yet.
I hope Mr Gusau will continue to have the balls to use opinion polls to pilot the affairs of the NFf and take decisions on what should be done or not.
I am even disappointed with the nff for making such comments. Why didn’t they consult the fans before making nff president. The head coach has done well.which crime has he committed, hasn’t he qualify us for the afcon?Pse let him continue and finish his job at the afcon. He has done well.Lets extend his contract. The fans should stay out of this. That is what we did to rohr and the result. Is it not because we listened to the public?we were disgraced.
Nff ndị d more u luk d less u see na so dem be everything about dem na fraud, fan based poll on whether peseiro Shud stay or go.why not conduct poll on whether we Shud retain u as president or not mug.u 4 come dis forum make dr.drey knack some sense into dat head of URS.
The NFF President should stop to reason like a clueless secondary school senior prefect and extend Coach Pesiero’s with just 1 Year first and without further delays.
What is there to vote about? And why the delay every time till the eleventh hour be4 taking crucial decision required for the team to excel a AFCON?This coach qualified us for AFCON. Whether the SE played fancy football or not set target were achieved. In football most times, practice and continuity make perfect. All the NFF needs to do is to embed in the coach’s new contract benchmarks and committed working structures based on merit, transparency to achieve new set targets and not necessarily conducting INEC type of elections
This is the reason to have competent people in place. You were elected because you were capable, right? So, go get the job done, Mr. President.
Coach Paseiro is not technically sound.
Even after the Sierra Leone match, other Africans were complaining about Super Eagles’ performance.
The problem is that the new NFF president is afraid to let go of the gaffer because he doesn’t want what happened to Amaju Pinnick during Oga Rohr’s time to repeat itself this time around.
He should take a bold step by replacing Oga Paseiro with either Amunike or Finidi.
The president most states this clearly before giving our indigenous coaches the job.
If they are cut taking bribe or not selecting the best for Nigeria, no excuse they will be replaced. By doing this, our local coaches will sit tight.
I am not really bothered about the skin of the Super Eagles coach as long as the coach can get the result we wanted.
So, this issue is not something we should be dragging amongst ourselves.
NFF president should think twice about Oga Paseiro. The way he played against the teams he has played with and also checked with our local coaches as well.
In my own opinion, Nigerians will benefit from our local coaches if they, NFF, can set a protocol.
Since the majority of us have agreed, NFF should give either Amunike or Finidi George the job, I believe the NFF has to listen to Nigerians.
Although, we have few people that are against the move of local coaches, but what was the achievement of the foreign coaches in Nigeria aside from Mr. Westerhof and Jo Bonfrere?
Our local coaches have won an Afcon gold medal, silver, and bronze medals.
So, what is Mr. President is waiting for it because there no time to waste time. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Goat can you coach ? Why not put your real name name monkey
No mind am na to talk chachachachacha like generator wey no get engine bearings him Sabi
@Omo9ja, you are completely clueless when it comes to football. What you invest is what you get now in football.Talking about local coach in Nigeria, we literally do not have any coach. And every wise nation nowadays including the European countries goes for the best coach. No need to change the current coach. He qualified the team and then he should lead the team.If he fails then he has existed himself
See them ,Ndi oshi!
