General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr Mohammed Sanusi has revealed that appointments into all national teams’ coaching crew, aside the Super Eagles, will be made in February, Completesports.com reports.
“The consultants saddled with the responsibility of recruiting and recommending are expected to turn in the chosen coaches for the Super Falcons, U-23 Eagles, Flying Eagles, Falconets, Flamingos, Golden Eaglets and Future Eagles for the NFF executive to approve and announce the appointments,” Sanusi said.
“We know we have some qualifying matches starting with Under-17 women team early March, and we shall hopefully announce list of successful coaches for the approval of the executive committee of NFF.
“The consultants are working round the clock, and hopefully, the list of those recruited should be out in February.”

Sanusi continued: “We expect the consultants to do a thorough job and recruit the best coaches among those who applied. I can assure Nigerians that the NFF will employ the best coaches for our national teams soon.”
Over 100 coaches were reported to have applied to the NFF, for the jobs of handling the five national men and women teams. Some of the coaches that applied included Christopher Danjuma, Paul Aigbogun, Edwin Okon, Manu Garba, Kennedy Boboye, Abdu Maikaba, Fidelis Ilechukwu, Bala Nikyu and Agan Edat, to mention a few.
Sanusi was silent on the Super Eagles job, ostensibly because of more time could take for the NFF to negotiate and agree a contract extension with Gernot Rohr who is already at the tail end of his three year contract, or otherwise hire a new coach.

Oga Mohammed Sanusi, Pinnick & the NFF board, please and please, give more time and call for more applications. Give us the full list of current applicants.
Funny that Danjuma and Aigbogun are re-applying after the forgettable experiences last year. I bet Imama too will be hoping to continue as coach of U23. Manu Garba is still understable to an extent – even though I’ll prefer we try a new hand.
Abeg, throw the net open o. I want to see names like Amuneke, Finidi, Ilechukwu etc. Let us know the criteria of selection. It must be fair and transparent and purely for footballing reasons. NFF, DO NOT RETAIN THE CURRENT COACHES PLS!!
you are very right .NFA should please forget about paul Aigbogun .is the most corrupted coach nigeria ever employed,he like bribe 2 much we dont want him .he select players on settlement, nigeria should pls fight for samson siasia and bring him back to either under 20 coach or under 23 coach
Odegbami and omomumu, ngwa, make una apply now o, the door is now wide open for you people to show us your coaching prowess. It’ll be a very big shame on your part respectively if una no apply, especially odegbami (the excricket over hyped legend without record)
Oakfield for insulting a great i think you’re street thug with no moral values.
Sharaaaap there , ewu gambia. If u like go lick his ass, that na ur own cup of tea. Great my ass. Can u reel out his achievements using the least average player of the the Eagles as a yardstick make we see if he is truly one. I’ve read and researched on this nut head and I’m still yet to find something that should qualify him to be regarded as a great or legend.
Oakfield, you are obviously an ill-mannered disrespectful infant. It beggars believe they a so-called intelligent man who prides himself in doing research is completely oblivious to the achievements of one of the greatest footballers Nigeria ever produced. Let me educate you a little, Odegbami is still the second highest goal scorer in the history of the Super Eagles. He won the first AFCON for Nigeria as the highest goal scorer in the team. He is arguably the best right winger Nigeria ever produced. I used the word arguably because of the successful career Finidi had. One thing that is very obvious on this forum is how rude most Igbo people are. They lack respect for elders, as epitomized by you and your co-hort.
Bia Sunny or whatever u call ur sorry self, You’re a very stupid idiot. What concerns tribe with our discuss??? Did I mention any tribe when I posted my comments which was as a result of the level ur overrated great has brought himself to due to his wickedness and unfounded jealousy of another man’s progress. So bcs he’s an elder which should take whatever he gives us hook, line and sinker? Do you know that this is one of the reasons why we are where we are today in this country is bcos of this nonsense elder sentiments? Dem go give u shit, u go chop and say na elder,
what nonsense!!!???Do you see how stupid and foolish u are. U really sound like a tribalist and I have no doubt in my mind that you are one. How dare u say Igbos are disrespectful to their elders??? Thunder fire you there, anuofia Nwa muo!!! If u like go lick his ass for being an overrated elder fool. Sorry ass licker Ndi Ara!!!
@SUNNY, Igbos are not ass lickers like some other tribes. That’s why we progress at an alarming rate anywhere we find ourselves. Aside from being hard working and industrious, this is one of the secrets of our prosperity and progress. Get that straight into ur dumb ass skull. Ewu
Generalising that all igbos are rude puts you in the same wagon as the person you seek to correct. surprisingly, the first person to call Oakfield to order appears to be an ibo. how do you reconcile with that? I suggest you stick with the subject raised and forget about inter-tribal war. we already know we are never one in this country.
@Sunny not all igbo’s are like that even though you’re right. But those who lost manners will surely get the fruit of their words in the nearest future. Village people are full of this satanic disrespectful attributes so I’m not surprised at Oakfield’s ill mannered attributes. That is even why they come here using jargons as names because they know what they’re made of.
Look at this efurefu calling one ill mannered, u should be ashamed of ursef. Anuoffia!!! Stupid Babarian like u. Someone just said people from ur tribe are disrespectful and you’re here forming good man instead of reprimanding him. Coward.
Hehehe…..see u, we’ll mannered man. U don dy show ursef small small. Street tug like u, Internet Anthony joshua, u no dy shame. If u jam me for street na u go run. Mosquito like u. Comet here!!!
If an elder is a thief, a murderer, a rapist, should we continue to respect him because he is simply an elder? God forbid this mentality. Even Jesus Christ called the elders in the church brood of vipers/ thieves, turning the house of God into a house of thieves.
Just the reason we as a country have been on a standstill for ages while many a nationa are matching forward. Qakfield is just been honest in his opinion while those critisizing him should continue to respect self centered men all in the name of elders. Elders are the ones that will twist tradition to kick a widow n children out of dead husband property and occupy it. According to many, that doesn’t matter. we must respect elders. Odegbami is not d only one that played during his era, Adokie, Owoblow, Okala, Aloysius Atuegbu etc, all were fantastic talents but are earning their respects by their attitude. What outdated mentality. Men of truth always appear arrogant eg Fela,Peter Tosh ,but that’s what is needed to emancipate oneself from mental slavery. Respect@ Oakfield
Respect to u too@ Glory. Common sense is not truly common.
why Nigeria NFF cant lean from other Nations? where is our ex Internationals who play the game at hightest level both in world cup. chose coaches from 1994 Nations cup and world cup ex intetnationals, i dont know why black man can not get single sense both educated ones and onon. chose people who knows the game to hightest level to coach national teams, Ndi ara
we want Emmanuel Amunike and samson siasia and augustin eguavon back
If I’m talking now, they will say my mouth is too sweet. If I use my mouth to woo you NFF, you may refuse it but if I use it to talk, hmm, please and please listen attentively.
I am not seeing a qualified coach among these candidates you just mentioned today NFF.
For those that keeps attacking me for nothing, can you see now that 99% of Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria? Not every local coach is corrupt but NFF.
NFF have no idea how to manage our sports and also, they won’t allow our ex players to come on board.
Paul Aigbogun kę? Ah. Hmmm… it is well.
Finidi George have been waiting to coach one of our national team for how many months now? But NFF will never choosen the best ones to represent Nigeria because of their pockets.
They are still bold enough to mentioned Paul Aigbogun’s name. Chai, these our oppressors has no shame o.
No wonder we have been seeing the likes of Agbim and Akpayi in our teams. Now I understand. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Stop typing garbage here, send in your application. It is ur type they need. Stop occupying precious Internet space here, abeg.
A qualifier starts in March, appointment of coaches in February is that a joke or what?
Tomorrow una go tell me say una want carry world cup, we have our ex international s to coach our under 17,20, 23, we have ex international s who played bigger club in Europe and world cup experience. But corruption and recist will not allow them. Tuffiakwa to NFF
So many under age boys are in here, I think CS should do something about it, it’s very annoying, there should be an age restriction.
How old are u @ Goal????
@ Femi, Segun Odegbami could have won lots of respect if he had gone privately to give his advice to Rohr n even then, Rohr still has a right to go with his advice or not. If Rohr refuses his advice and SE start to lose matches randomly, then Rohr will be ready for all sorts of sledge hammer to land on him. There in, Baba Shege may have shown he is a true legend. But coming out in the media to ridicule a man doing his best under such difficult terrain like nigeria is destructive,negative,pre-modern,n never going to yield anything positive. There is a difference between making submission n scheming to actualise certain aim. That scheming is what I am attacking and disrespecting and definitely not Odegbami as a person. People change. When people change to become good, we adore them but when they choose to be bad, we latch at them irrespective.
@Oakfield, please calm down. I beg you, biko. We all get angry sometimes, it’s natural. But as much as possible we should try to control it and not let it control us.
We all speak as Nigerians first, foremost and last here. No Igbo, no Yoruba, no Hausa, Igala, Tiv, Efik, Edo, Urhobo, Isoko, Ijaw, Ibibio and others. Respect for elders is a Nigerian things – from Hausa to Igbo to Yoruba. If you’re Igbo and you show disrespect to elders, people from other tribes will think most Igbos are like that or it’s part of their culture. IGBOS and other tribes RESPECT ELDERS. And that’s a fact. They just have their ways of doing so.
I don’t care to know anyone’s tribe here. I only judge you as a Nigerian, a football lover and by your words. I don’t also care to know the tribe of a player or coach, I only care about their performance and potentials. Let’s try to have own code of speech here. To be frank, I do enjoy some people’s banter and e-fights here and I do laugh sometimes. Hehehe. For example, the heavyweights like Dr.Drey vs Omonaija. It’s just like Wilder vs Fury. But then, my bro Oakfield, there’s a limit, please. Don’t call Odegbami names. Make your point, puncture his arguments if you will and move on. He’s a legend. You sure won’t like people calling Kanu and Okocha names 10 years down the line. Calm down, biko Nwanem.
@Kel, I understand but what got me infuriated was when one of us said igbos were disrespectful, what nonsense!? I mean , how dare him make such a remark???? My posts are devoid of tribalistic undertones (even though I don’t really buy the idea that odegbami is a legend. He could be a legend for some people but not for me bcos he doesn’t think/reason and act like one), hence, i see no reason why anyone would attribute disrespectfulness to a particular tribe thereby exalting one and putting down the other. As far as I’m concerned, that guy called sunny is a tribalist to the core (no apologies) but he should understand that this is a public space and should pocket whatever tribal sentiments he has if he wants peace. The other guy@ Chima who should’ve reprimanded him was giving him a part on his back for his useless and uncultured remarks towards a particular tribe just to play the good guy but little did he know he just made himself a coward which we are not known for. Abuse me all u can but dont mess with my tribe. I sheath my sword.
His problem is not with Odegbami but with Complete Sports Nigeria that haven’t given Oakfield an ‘Edith’ button.
If they have, he would have been able to edit his submissions before printing
Insulting a national icon like odegbami simply because of his controversial views shows how crazy some people are .
Looool!! Ashely my man!!!! I need am badly
Lol! I guess we all need it.
Icon. Is his views well thought out? Will his views bring the greatest good for the country? Is being an ‘icon’ a licence to spew out ….and to insist that the majority tow his line, even when he is wrong? Is his suggestion wrought with conflict of interest? He runs a Soccer Academy, doesn’t he?
Suppose an ‘icon’ develops florid dementia and asks us to burn down the Glass House, should we blindly do it?
Hero worship!
My man Achi, Pls ask them. I remove my cap for you abeg. U too much. Common sense is truly no common after all, the age of metuselah has absolutely nothing to do with the wisdom of solomon.
For clarity, I am not a fan of Odegbami’s politics or philosophy. Nonetheless, to deny him his legendary status and respect, simply because he does not share your views and sentiments is simply juvenile and repugnant. It portrays the person as a brat. Oakfield called him a cricket player and suggested he had no record with the Super Eagles. I maintain that Oakfield, Glory and other entitled Igbo guys would not do the same to Kanu or even Mikel Obi.
Lol……I dy tell u @ashley my man…
Everyone is entitled to his views..
Most inventions and great things begin with a crazy idea.
To contribute to a discourse with a forum with a delusional attitude is absolutely uncalled for.
Some people make duscriminatory comments on this forum and begin to denigrate personality who are not from their tribe. They think smartness is by noise making and coursing out people.
If Odegbami were Christian Chukwu or Nwankwo, they would hail his submission to heavens. To my understanding, Westerhof, Keshi, BOtto Gloria, Bonfere Jo, and Amodu are ahead of Rohr in performance and achievement with SE. These coaches faced numerous criticisms at some points and they rose to and above those challenges to achieve Success.
I know it’s not about tribe,
it’s about level of exposure and intelligence.
@larry, u are very wrong. If odegbami was keshi, nwankwo kanu or okocha, we would be saying the same thing. We are not ass lickers, ekweremadu, orji uzo kalu et al would tell u more about us. So, pocket this ur tribalist sentiments aside. Bro, to be honest, he odegbami, brought whatever he is getting here upon himself. Since he has failed to respect himself and expose his corrupt antecedents, the younger generation would throw eggs at him. But, if u feel he odegbami is always doing and saying the right thing all bcos he’s an elder, just obey him when he tells us to burn your father’s house to the ground ( all bcos he doesn’t like the occupants ) and drink sniper. Read Achi’s post above and get some sense, it will do u a lot of good.
Oakfield and Glory just confirmed my earlier submission. Igbos are unnecessary aggressive. Rather than presenting their point in a compelling and respectful manner, they resort to insults and making incendiary comments. They come off as entitled and uneducated. I remember just how they threw their toys out of their mouth because limited number of Igbos were on the U17 roster.
Your are just a pained sorry ass tribalist. Get a life…….
The tribalist pulling the tribal card. That is usually their go-to act once they lose an argument and are being called out for their tribalism. Go back to school, kid.
@ Sunny, I can’t join words with you because I try to understand where you coming from but if you have been regular on this forum, you’d read my post about Mikel, JJ Okocha. I have spoken at some point of their negative attitude regarding our SE. I honestly don’t hate these great men but I will latch out at anyone trying to destroy another even if that happens to be my dad or mum. I hate that pull him down syndrome. And to put fact straight, I only know two race, two tribes, two people, two in everything. GOOD N BAD. This my mentality and I choose Good as that is my tribe, my race, my family, my mother, my father, my everything. And to correct you I am a hard core Waffarian, an Itsekiri by tribe.
@sunny, it baffles my mind how u try to draw tribal sentiments into this issue. Your quick reference to the reaction of southerners to the make up of the u17 team and ur reference to amunike, kanu and okocha shows u are an obsessed sorry tribal entity. For crying out loud, ur god odegbami has reduced himself to the rubble with his destructive antics against the progress and well being of the super Eagles and against a man who has brought tremendous positive changes to our national team. Such a person does not in any way deserve my respect and it has nothing to do with tribe. After all, i revere Yekini (of blessed memory) to the highest heavens and would vehemently attack anybody that talks ill about him bcos he was a true legend.. Mr Rohr is not an igbo or hausa man so why should i attack him (odegbami) bcs of his tribe? But unfortunately, ur
tribalist configured brain has started sending tribal signals to ur central processing unit. As long as he (odegbami ) does not want to respect himself as an ex international (or cricket International ) my attacks against him will continue unabated until he receives sense. So, u cry and whine all u can, it shall continue, I promise. How can a man in his right senses start clamouring for the sack of a coach who has brought so much stability to the team and then suggest he gets replaced by a rookie with no coaching experience?? Is that not, insanity, stupidity and wickedness? ? O, common man, can’t u see that this man has gone nuts??? It has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with tribe. Like I said before, if u feel he’s ur elder, god and idol, pls, obey him when he tells us to burn ur father’s house to the ground, that way u show much respect to him as an elder whom u revere so much.
Glory, I respect your intellect and how you have cleverly made your point. I am sorry for misrepresenting you or your ethnicity. Truth be told, I have always enjoyed reading your comments and I guess I was caught up in your initial support for the cerebrally challenged Oakfield. There is a saying that charlatans will see an apple and would try their utmost to convince you that it is a banana. TheY would shout to the rafters in order to convince you that it is actually a banana. If you reject their summation, they go bunkers and become schizophrenic. That is exactly what is happening to this kid called Oakfield. He continues to steer out of context in his argument. I am not saying you must accept what Odegbami or anyone says. However, your rebuttal does not have to be insulting. Experience has taught me that the less intelligent ones are the ones who resort to insult in order to win an argument. Please, refer to my apple and banana analogy again. Oakfield is cerebrally challenged, hence I do not have is time. There is a proverb that says once you fraternize with dogs, you end up eating fecal waste.
U’re already fratenizing with lizards that’s why ur thinking is “lizard like”. I see, it’s ur god ( the ex cricket international) who wants a good gaffer to be replaced by a rookie with no coaching experience using Ghana that is way below us as yardstick or u that has described a particular tribe as being generally disrespectful. See u and ur correct brain. How would u feel if I said your tribe (yorubas ) are cowards and generally dirty? (Which Is not true) Would u call me a sane person if I made such an assertion ? I have lots of great youruba brothers who are modest and good,it would be very stupid of me to make such a remark but you have shown the whole world by that original remark about igbos and with ur tribal trajectory that you are a very, very sick obssed tribal entity that needs help. Never in the history of this forum has one come up with such an assertion but you just did. You need help..
I thought this guy was only deluded and disrespectful, now I see he has added ignorance and arrogance to his resume. Ghana way below you? It might be instructive to know the Ghana has four AFCON titles why we have three. Ghana has been to the quarter final of the World Cup why our highest finish has been the second round. Your rants have shown that you are not only uneducated but also ignorant. You and your tribal friends cook up lies against Yorubas to make you sleep well at night. You have erroneously pushed the agenda of Yoruba being cowards, dirty etc just to feel good about yourselves. History lesson 1. Three Nigerians are dominating the UFC right now and none of them is Igbo 2, while your region kept procrastinating on self-defense, the Yoruba’s started Amotekun. Now who is cowardly? You people try to propagate a false narrative of Yorubas being dirty while the Igbos are the dirtiest people on earth. I lived in the East before and believe me when I say the Igbos should not be calling anybody dirty.
@sunny, loooooooooool..hahaha! Amotekun, ufc, Ghana etc…….lol. chei! Now I see u really need urgent help. I can’t just stop laughing…..lol. are u for real???? Read my posts again to show me where i asserted yorobas were dirty….Lol……wetin concern amotekun and ufc with the subject matter??? Can any Ghananian team be compared to any our teams at the moment, what has been their achievements in the last 10yrs and what is their present ranking today in sports generally?? Can u see u’re just a crazy fool????… Lol……human beings dey o, little wonder your little god (the excricket international ) reasons just like you.. lol
Oakfield, from your frequent posts here, I assume you have access to the internet. Please, educate yourself. The previous two AFCONs before the last one i.e 2015 and 2017, which Nigeria didn’t even qualify for, Ghana got to the final and semifinal respectively. In 2010, less than ten years ago, Ghana got to the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Please, enrich your mind and stop displaying your wanton ignorance in a public space.
@ Sunny, absolutely correct.
I wish we could go back to some topics and you will discover how they react to issues.
For example, some of them were championing a narrative that Simon does not belong to SE stars, but stars prove them wrong, Their Onyekwuru and Kalu are finding it hard to make it in the same league Simon has taken by storm.
They cl as I’m Nwakali is better than some established stars but the lad is still trying to get his career on track and the last time i checked stories on him it’s really a pathetic story. A journalist covered his story and connected his case to too much pressure from supporters back home.
They keep shouting Eze but forgets that Ejaria and Osayi are the real deal in the same league.
Observe their actions to list of invitees and stories online, you will know them fully well.
The goal keeper trainer is part of the problem with SE , he keeps inviting inactive GK but will not use same criteria for the only nigerian GK ever to win golden gloves recognition in FIFA tournament just because of same sickening issue.
Loooool…….chai!!! How some people..reason eh….smh……I can’t believe what you’ve just written@ larry. U really can’t be serious , honestly, U just sound like a 2 year old…lol
Larry you nailed it. It’s obvious that we all can not think alike. Just like everyone wants to be a boss but majority will surely remain workers!
NFF is proudly talking about hiring coaches for the national teams in February when some of the qualifiers are starting in March! And this same NFF expect these coaches to get good results! Dear NFF, soccer is not magic. Long term planning and preparation is necessary for a good result. I still cannot understand why Nigerians lack leadership capabilities. From the presidency to the governors to the legislators and NFF, amongst others, it’s the same story of incompetent leadership capacity. All we Nigerians do is just to speak big vocabularies in place of performance, and that’s it.
@Glory I’m shocked that you have join the two badwagons or will I say Judas in the forum but I refuse to believe it because I still sense moral values in your write up. I will advice you don’t allow them to seduce you to be a cohort of their junky enterprise.
Lol….special adviser…..
Young man can you go off this website and have some sleep? I find it hard that you can not make a good name for yourself rather you come here hurling insults that you don’t know the consequences of your actions. My advice to you is to learn when to speak and when to be quiet.
Anthony, pls, don’t draw my attention abeg. Thanks
