NFF Confirms Death Of SuperSport Crew Members, One Police In Anambra Ambush

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the deaths of three crew members of SuperSport and one police officer following an attack in Anambra State by suspected bandits.

The victims were part of a media organization traveling to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from Lagos to broadcast the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya on Friday.

It was gathered on Saturday that a total of 14 persons were in the vehicle at the time of the ambush. Eight people were eventually rescued; two escaped on their own; three were killed; and one person is still unaccounted for.

Reacting to the development, NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau in a statement on Saturday, stated that it has been a very sad past few days for Executive Committee members, as well as management and staff of the body.

“Yes, we won the match against Libya and took three points, but the fact that three lives were lost created a situation in which we were unable to celebrate properly, and it hurts seriously to even think back at the unfortunate incident,” he said.

“Nigerian football has had a long and fruitful relationship with SuperSport. The organization has been a strong ally in helping to fulfill the objective of the NFF in spreading joy to Nigerians through football, and they have been very professional and dedicated in their service.

“We share in their pain and sorrow at this period. Our prayer is that the Almighty will comfort the SuperSport family and the families of the deceased and also grant the deceased eternal rest.

“At the same time, we pray for the safe return of the one person still unaccounted for, so that he will happily link up with his family and return to his job in good health. We also thank the security forces immensely for their efforts since this incident started.”

What a barbaric country! Innocent people trying to make us happy killed in a ruthless manner. Who should blame FIFA or CAF if they refuse to award Nigeria hosting right of any of the international football events? May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

Why go by road? Why not by air? Such a long distance… You are passing through like 6 states before you get to uyo and you go by road with all the kidnapping, unknown men gun and banditry?

A whole super sport can’t fly their staff?

Even me I don’t go by road if am doing short inter-state travel….

This south Africa channel needs to be investigated…

    This could have been avoided…

They just wasted the lives of hardworking talented Nigerians…

    This is wickedness!

So you’re telling me that people can not use Nigerian roads again but all western countries I have traveled you can walk freely at 2am without fear of death or kidnap, worst case scenario is stealing but say kill kidnap for movement of Being is not normal. Hello something is alarming, the last time I was told nobody attends engagements at our region anymore, I thought it was a joke or over exaggerating but this event confirms a major issue brewing in the so called federal republic. Football aside Nigeria is under destruction when you talk here CSN Will censore you now how e dey be???? Abi you people think life is all about Football next time let people say the truth for freedom of speech and security. You people should go and meet Batman for answers because Bhuari is now a Saint when I hear Nigerians are now buying fuel for 1k per litres. Was it not the same country that was buying 65 NAIRA Per litre few years back. Lol you people should be nepotistic about everything and watch Nigeria destroyed before making Peter Obi president all because of Igbo man. Yeye country indeed!!!

Illiteracy is the cause of all this mishaps going on in that region. Misleadings and fake affiliation with one Igbo or Biafra nonsense is what is causing the nonsense happening in these places. Everyone should educate the upcoming children so that these generation of predators of ours will pass away and free our children of todays ignorance.

Nigeria that rarely have its own national team matches shown on national tv is now killing the only people bringing their match live. Nigerians will soon run into depression if they don’t start having sense and facing their political predator leader instead of ordinary citizens like you that is also facing the national drama unfolding in the country.
