Man Utd remain interested in Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff and are being tipped to make an official bid for him this summer. The 21-year-old is recovering from the knee injury that ended his season with the Magpies in March and admitted he was “massively flattered” to be linked with the Red Devils when the transfer speculation first emerged last month.
Newcastle remain hopeful of keeping the rising star, who enjoyed a fine breakthrough campaign last season, but concrete interest from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer could turn his head and make it difficult for the club to resist a big offer.

Longstaff made 13 senior appearances for Rafa Benitez’s side last season, scoring two goals, as he made the step up from the Under-23 side and caught the eye with some outstanding performances in the middle of the park. He damaged knee ligaments against West Ham United on March 2 and has been working hard with his rehabilitation in order to be fully fit for the start of the new season in August.
Reports say Man Utd are monitoring the situation and, while Longstaff is not a top priority in the transfer window yet, after they have signed some defenders they could turn their attention to him and table an offer in excess of £15million.
