Newcastle reportedly made an offer for Juventus winger Marko Pjaca before the transfer window closed and could launch a summer bid.
Reports in Italy say Magpies boss Rafa Benitez enquired about the wideman but was told he would be staying on loan at Fiorentina in Serie A for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old Croatia international has failed to live up to expectations for La Viola, scoring just once and having one assist to his name so far, but when apparently told about an offer from Newcastle, he revealed he preferred to stay in Italy.
That may not deter Benitez in the summer, however, and he could renew his interest when the transfer window reopens if he stays on as the Newcastle boss.
Pjaca joined Juve in 2016 but successive loan spells at Schalke and now Fiorentina suggests he does not have a long-term future in Turin after only managing 20 appearances and one goal for the Italian champions so far.
