Pirelli motorsport boss Mario Isola feels Formula 1 drivers will be able to push harder this year and fans will see better racing. The Italian manufacturer has produced new tyres for the 2019 F1 season as they look to bounce back from recent criticism over their products.

They have been slated for producing tyres that degrade quickly and prevent drivers from fighting wheel-to-wheel, with many grands prix seen as more of a procession than a contest. However, Isola insists Pirelli have taken note and the new tyres are designed to bring the excitement back into the high-octane sport.
“Our C2, C3, and C4 hard, medium and soft nominations this year are roughly equivalent to the 2018 medium, soft and ultrasoft compounds. This should allow drivers to push hard from the start to the finish of each stint,” he said.
“After a very productive test in Barcelona, we feel satisfied that the 2019 tyre range is on course to meet our objectives of combining performance with durability.”
