President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick has refused to rule out the possibility of an expatriate coach leading the Super Eagles to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, reports Completesports.com.
Technical director of NFF Austine Eguavoen has been placed in temporary charge of team following the sacking of Gernot Rohr.
Eguavoen, who guided the West Africans to third place at 2006 AFCON in Egypt is widely expected to lead the Super Eagles in Cameroon, but Pinnick insisted the NFF remain open to the possibility of appointing a new head coach before the start of the competition.
“If the coach will give us the Nations Cup, he will be drafted in immediately,”Pinnick said during a parley with the media on Wednesday.
“I am not going to tell you that it will be later, because of what essence is the recruitment? If the executive committee says yes and we are ready, what are we waiting for?
“When I spoke with one of the coaches on Tuesday, he was already scouting our players and was telling me things I didn’t even know about our players.
“It was quite impressive and he told me the strength of each player and he took me off guard. We are not going to experiment and if he can win the Nations Cup, no problem.
“We know Eguavoen can do it, but we also want someone who can do it better. If we are unable to sign him soon, then we will work with the current team. But I am not going to tell you that if we have him signed today, he is not going to lead the team to the AFCON.”

These people are confused. One minute Eguavoen will lead the team to Cameroon, the next minute it will be a foreign coach. This is becoming a comedy. Me I will not bother to watch the Afcon sef.
I don’t miss eagles job ooo. I could have told picnik wat he doesn’t know about eagles players since . One of the Europeans coach already told him . I could have been richer by now with 70000 dollars per month . And this is wat I know about the players since they have been playing for the eagles from junior team before they enter eagles proper. Some of the players have been in the team since 2012 and this is 2021 so they are now old . But rohr wil call dem young. Some played in UAE under 17 in 2013 . So they are likely to be elderly now. So they are not young. Some have played under20 and under 23 yet dey did not qualify the team to the junior world cup. Some are good at the beginning of a game but during the last 15 mins of a game they are nothing one the field. Some of them do not have any character but only pass the ball to the man in front of them and at time their opponent. Some are bench warmers in their clubs
Some are only expected to play for only 15 mins in a game.
The last coach use 3 man defense to start an attack so by the end of 80mims dey wil concede cheap goals as seen in the case of Car and sierra Leone.
The middle get tired at will . Dey are supposed to be the source of an attack not the defense and even though wen dey needed to help the defense when there is presume they are gapsin for energy.
Your former coach will always clap his hand when his team conceed a goal . Check video of Argentina Madagascar and cape Verde. . The team can win matches if I handle them to score goals every 15 mins
They team wil allow opponent to express themselves so that we wil use conta attack to win dangerous matches .
My team will not be allowed to the press and musicians and comedians wen dey are in camp.
My camp wil be in Cote de voir for a week before every game .
Players dat do not perform in their league week in week out wil be drop.
I wil make sure the best home players are invited at least 5 of local players wil be in my team to any competition. And my defence line wil be a mixture of local and other . because the foreign guys can at time be afraid to get injury so the home guy wil do the bad job to the attackers
What do picnik want again.
My team wil play friendly game with Atlanta Roma and almeria .and one German team and Madagascar
Pls tell us ur mobile noba
The priority now should be the list and comping arrangements. Egu has been named as an interim coach, so it is understood that the substantive coach can take over anytime.
Consulting with Mourinho is no big deal. People carry out consultations to guide decision making.
The list, the list. Camping. You’re made a gamble. See it to the end before soccer crazy Nigerians. . .
The NFF has no money to pay Rohr, but now trying to contract high profile Mourinho!! For free?
It will shock many by the time the storms of confusion around this afcon is over, se might not even make it out of group stage.
I have never seen NFF in great confusion like this. Why not leave rohr then if you know your better option is still foreign coach.
We Sidon dey look Yeye.
“…We know Eguavoen can do it, but we also want someone who can do it better…”
This Pinnick should start doing stand up comedy once his tenure as NFF president ends…..LMAOOooo
Is it this his Peserio who took over Saudi Arabia at No 53 in the world and left them at No 78 or Venezuela at no 25 and left them at No 49 that will do a better job….??? LMAOooo.
Person wey dem never employ dey tell you “…things you didn’t even know about our players…and he took you off guard” LMAOOooo. That is how daft you have been…..LMAOOooo.
Na sidon look we dey…..LMAOOooo.
How a nation can hatefully swap certainty for uncertainty and confusion doesnt beat imagination….Just come and watch the Nigerian Football Show….LMAOOoo
Lol
Lol
Pinnick of a man is a confusionist and a disaster of a kind. Why is he not focused. When will Nigeria begin to believe in itself. When will it begin to develop it’s own people.
Eguaveon should be allowed to do this job without any distractions.
Check the latest Oxford dictionary and see an additional example under the word confused. “After the robbery incident at the bank, all the workers stood, afraid, beleaguered and as confused as the Nigeria Football Federation” LOL
Haaaa, pinnick or what ever is just trying to play every Nigerian. Support Eguavoen with everything you think he needs to succeed before next decision after afcon.
All these many talks will only makes Nigeria look like unserious nation, even many foreign coach we run away from se job.
Okay. It seems NFF is the problem afteral.
@mu yiwa, that’s really hilarious. Lolz!
This Mango head Pinnick is a confused Being. This said foreign coach talk at this time that list has already been submitted and the coach too doesn’t have a proven track record of trophy with any country, plus I also heard he wants advance pay, he’s also a coach that was sacked by Venezuela after winning only one out of 8 or so matches. Until Pinnick leaves I don’t expect any miracle!!!
Chima I respect you cause eguavoen was never your choice as a coach, you stood up and expressed ur feeling. Not the other idiot Omo9ja that is claiming eguavoen is the best.
Ok, what is his name pray tell?
I’ve always insisted that Amaju is the problem with Nigerian football.
How now, please explain for the benefit of us all.
Lol , I ve told you guys many times Pinnick and his cohorts are professional fraudsters eguavoen included, these people are not confused they’re master gamers, born con artists, let’s sit back with some chicken nuggets while enjoying the movie as written, directed and produced by Pinnick and Dare.
Now we know the problem of our dwindling in football…. These people knows nothing next to soccer…..
How on earth should a stranger tell you things u didn’t know about your players???
Oh! Nigeria my beloved country is gone….
See the way greedy politicians are rubbishing our football….
Can a coach from Italy, Spain, Germany or France come and be telling English FA chairman things he didn’t know about his players???
How did we get here????
And we think any indeginous Coach can perform well under this kind of clueless environment….
So Eguavoen is not good and now u are looking for someone better than him right???
Oga Pinnick or whatever is your name, We are not after whoever is in charge as coach, what we want is IMPROVEMENT.
We’re 36th presently, by this time next year we should be between 20th & 15th in the world ASAP…..
WE WANT THE AFCON TROPHY AT ALL COST….
WE’LL NOT ENTERTAIN ANY EXCUSE(S) from you and your cohort…..
YOU CAN CONTINUE TO DECEIVE THE GULLIBLE, BUT I REFUSE TO JOIN THE BAN WAGON OF MORONS YOU ARE FOOLING AROUND.
***SHALOM***
@UBFE… Welcome back. Since you went away another individual has taken your spot o… His name is @MONKEY POST! Lol… anyways welcome back!
Honestly brother man. This bunch of NFF are a confused.com specialist. They just float on the whims of the Euphoria. Only God Almighty can in HIS MERCY SAVE THIS DROWNING NATION NIGERIA.
I just read the calamity Peseiro has been dropped for Morais. I think after going through the track record of Morais he will do a better Job. Now it’s left to see who Pinnick will settle for.
All those who were supporting NFF to sack Rohr I want to believe they are now covering their face in shame. Imagine NFF and the trash coming out of its president. How can a foreigner tell you things you didn’t know about the football team you are managing. Even Benin republic FA will not be this clueless. Almost 3 weeks after Rohrs sack we are still confuse, why did we sack him? Don’t break it if you can’t fix it. WE NEED THE AFCON. That’s was the target of the team, anything less than that is unacceptable from all you Mourinho’s. Up till now they can’t clear off Rohrs debt, I pray this Rohr issues will not drag them to FIFA.
Pinick is just saying what he is really thinking as far as he is concerned and I suspect its the financial details that have slowed the appointment down which has led to this “interim” position for the largest ever management/coaching team, even for an interim position hehehe, anyhow Picknic is basically squirrelling away in the background trying to do a deal and meanwhile the “boys” can crack on with the job in hand – what will be fascinating to see is how all this develops if say Pinckinc and co cannot sort out the finances in time for the Afcon to start and conclude and if Eguavon and his massive coaching crew entourage go and win the cup then we can suddenly find ourselves watching a power stand-off like they do in Mexico hehe
Well and without further ado….rest mode active.
@Chima, Morais is a lot better than Peseiro.
Please let us share the blame where it is due. The peoplr to blame for our current confusion include all our former ex-internationals that were giving rubbish press statements on Rhor’s performance, Segun Odegbami, Sunday Dare and all those who supported the sacking of Rohr on this CSN platform.
As far as I am concerned And I stand to be corrected with facts not sentiments, Pinnick is doing Sunday Dare’s bidding by appointing Eguavoen as Coach.
The amount paid to a foreign coach is way better than what will be paid to local coaches. Going by the post that CSN made here after the sacking of Rohr.
It was discussed that If the Sports Ministry wants to take over the payment of a local coach that they should go ahead.
So there is a situation that pits the Sunday Dare and the Sports Ministry paying for Eguavoen’s salary through their pause vs NFF paying for a foreign technical adviser from the money received from sponsors.
That’s the fight there. Again like I mentioned, this quagmire we are seeing is because of the loud mouthed Sports Minister and his counterparts in old boys Super Eagles and Segun Odegbami.
Period.
@Bobby Yes Morais is a three time league winner compared to the latter who has not won tea spoon like Rohr, yet he wants salary upfront because he not only sure of NFF financial promise but also he knows he will fail because he has never won anything. NFF must be smart and employ only a winner and not experimental thing.
3 times league winner in what club and country? The same league you are crying that Ighalo is playing in. Does some of you usually check your self and see if you are making sense at all? Pessero is not good again but Morais. We shall all see how it goes.
I guess I was too harsh but your question too check am. Will Rohr achieve what that man achieved? With Same talent at the same league. Club football no easy o everyday is a task, then he won league cup and coach of the year it’s no mean feat at two different countries and different from his dual culture. He needs respect. Have a goodnight!!!
Hhahahahahaa… So, una sack rochr and put a man whom you have zero confidence in. They no he is no good and not a better replacement. Hahaha. Very confused bunch of idiots! With just few days to go before a major tourney, u people are still beating about the bush with regards getting a capabale replacement. You never even made concrete plans before even thinking of sacking a coach that already has a team that can win the nations cup.House of comedy. What did the that coach tell that rohr hadnt told you in his technical report during his five year term.?? Dont worry, your head would get blown off when you’ll realize the level of damage that has already been done. Ndi ara…
After going through the profile of Jose Morais you can tell that he got a winning mentality having not only won the league multiple times, he had also won league manager of the year and also his attacking formation of 4-3-3 is a master stroke that will end out BP. I think he’s an upgrade to Amunike plus he has an African blood since he was born in Angola even though he played for Portugal. I will choose him all day!!!
*end our BP
My only concern is that Dumbo has already submitted his Criminal list of 37 and cut off players like Dessers and Izuchukwu but adding average players like Noble, Ighalo and Shehu. If only this Mr Right is appointed and be left by NFF to screen out these lowly standard players I will be so happy.
You people should tell @JimmyBall to lemme alone o. He is looking for my trouble o…Lol!
It is only by miracle that can make us to do well in the NC. The nff has set the eagles up for failure. Otherwise, who sack a coach weeks before a major tournament, and as if that was not enough, the nff are saying they are looking for another coach having installed a new coach on the interim without the new coach even been in charge of a single game.
Anytime I see all this ill-professional attitude from picnic, my angers goes to JayJay. When power was on the street, he failed to pick it up. Allowing a born fool to be in power.
Our Nation Cup participation and preparation is just a mess. YES, I supported Rohr, until our below par World cup qualification games and will support any coach this clueless NFF brings in but just some weeks to a major tournament dem Pinnick is here saying shit.
Pinnick is an executive member of CAF and FIFA but seems this man is just there for his selfish gains.
If he knew that Rohr will be sacked, why did they allow him make that list? Now Eguavon is struggling to add some names. When we fail at the AfCON, they is an already made excuse for this consortium of coaches, the initial list was not theirs, tell me a workman that goes to a professional work with another man’s tools?
I also read with great enthusiasm, the list of Ghana and Morocco, and seeing that Ghana has the nerve and courage to drop Asamoah Gyan, while Morocco dropped Ziyech, I am wondering if we will have the courage to drop the likes of Musa, Shehu and Ighalo.
In conclusion, Rohr said he submitted a list of 40 players to CAF, how come it is 37man list now? The confusion associated with anything Nigerian since 2015, I just pray that the Good Lord, forgives our land and show us mercy.
“…In conclusion, Rohr said he submitted a list of 40 players to CAF, how come it is 37man list now…”
Xhuxhu…please help us ask them o.
This man state exclusively in a video interview broadcasted online that he submitted a 40 MAN LIST to the FA to forward to CAF. Up till a few days ago, all we heard of as already been submitted to CAF was 40 MAN LIST, how 40 man list has 3 players now missing is what FBI is still struggling to find out for us o.
Several media outlets corroborated Rohr position by reporting that Rohr submitted 40 MAN LIST which included Cyriel Dessers and Bayo Adeleye. 40 MAN LIST has turned to 37 all of a sudden. Dessers whom Rohr was already priming as replacement for Osimhen has suddenly disappeared from the 40-MAN-now-37 MAN list we are seeing now.
Between the NFF secretariat and CAF headquarters, “our owns” have done their magic as we had feared and predicted.
Na sidon look we dey o.

Dr, it is just pathetic. The problem of our football is this Amaju Pinnick led NFF.
This job has given him an open door to CAF and FIFA positions, make him just concentrate on those jobs because he has disappointed us.
Just look at our other teams, Under 17, 21 and 23, for both Male and female teams, when last did we qualify for a major tournament?
I am just afraid of all these emergency administrators that Nigeria has given its football to manage. it’s like they are about to drive it off the cliff!
Any coach that will bring substantial success to the SuperEagles is welcome. Eguavoen hasn’t even started work Pinnick is already dragging him around. Lmao!! In all honesty Nigeria at this stage shouldn’t be dependent on a foreign coach with all our intellectual capacities.
However, where trust is an issue we can only continue doing things in circles. Technically and tactically I believe Eguavoen is a decent option at best, but the issue is can the caliber of players we have trust him to lead them?? Our major problem is not the players or the coach that will lead the SuperEagles. Pinnick and Dare are the ones coaching the SuperEagles as we speak.
I wonder why the joke of a minister couldn’t manipulate the basketball federation to sack coach Brown after the Olympics. You know why because there’s not a lot of money to loot from the basketball team and they have no say in their players transfers. SuperEagles is the major pot of soup for them. Just two weeks to the beginning of the AFCON and we don’t know up till this moment who is leading the team to Cameroon. What a shame whoever did us like this make that person no die again O!
It is truly a sad state of affairs.
Imagine the Sports Minister picking camping site for the SE ahead of a major tournament….LMAOOooo….when did that nonsense start if not in this era of “their owns”…….LMAOOoo.
It is a national team coach that I know makes the choice of where he wants to camp his team for MAXIMUM concentration ahead of major tournaments, not the Federation president or Sports Ministry.
Fellow Nigerians, welcome back to “our owns” era o.
Na laugh I just dey laugh since last week. Just see the way our football has become directionless in a matter of weeks……LMAOOoooo
Please is NFF and pinnick sane? Bcos I wonder what is going on in their heads. When countries are releasing list, we are still talking about d cooach that will lead d team. Honestly I lack words to express my disgust for NFF right now.
Pinnick has become the main cog in the wheel of progress for the super eagles. Imagine hiring a consortium of coaches and in one day making statements like ” If Eguavoen wins the afcon, he will be become technical adviser” and next day ” if the Executive committee gives the green light, the new coach would lead the team to afcon “. Confusion everywhere! Imagine if you are Eguavoen, how demotivated you must feel, there is no sense of order or organisation; everything is done by one man’s impulse. He has to go down in the annals of history as the worst administrator ever. Few weeks to the Afcon tourney and we do not know the official team list nor the coach leading us . It is a circus. Listening to the man speak about the new coach they interviewed who told him things he did not know about our players and concluded ” it was impressive “. That is what people do when they go for an interview, they prepare and read up on the organisation. A seasoned interview panel will not be distracted by that but focus on the core competence of the person being interviewed .
This is the man leading our Football? What a big shame!
It appears Oga Pinnick has been attending too many comedy shows lately, hence he’s been acting funny of late.
Why sack a coach that has been meeting targets with few weeks into a major competition?
Why appoint a large consortium as interim managers of the team only to now start telling us that another foreign coach may be leading the team to AFCON, and in the same interview you’re still thinking Eguavoen can lead us to win the AFCON and remain as coach, while the new man you interviewed and agreed terms with to be coach will suddenly have to swap places with Eguavoen. Oga Pinnick is now a comedian per excellence.
I wonder what the likes of Elder Segun Odegbami will say if a foreigner eventually leads us to AFCON.
Lest I forget, what’s the faith of those that are already planning to “fail with their own”? Na wah ooo!
Shebi Segun odegbami go dey rejoice now… shameless old cargo!!!
There’s confusion here and there. No direction and purpose. All the Nigeria Football Federation are doing now is nothing but confusion period.
Wrong people are running Nigeria football. Amaju Pinnick, a former politician. What are we expecting from him.
Can’t we learn from Cameroon? Cameroon saw this coming and they went for it. Cameroon tapped from Ivory coast. If not that Drogba wasn’t elected as Ivory coast football president, Africans would be boasting of Ęto and Drogba.
I am pretty sure that Nigeria will not follow that direction. This is why something like this will keep happening.
Kanu and Okocha should be the next in line. Kanu and Okocha should wake up and follow Ęto and Drogba footsteps. Either of the two should be the next NFF President. Enough of this now.
Is Amaju untouchable? This man is passing his boundary. I love the way Channel television humbled this ego man. At last, he cut off the phone when the interviewer was throwing in heavy questions to him. You haven’t seen nothing yet Amaju Pinnick. We are coming for you soon. I told your servant “Oga Rohr” on here to watch out for we patriotic Nigerians and what happened to him in the end? Yours is underway too Pinnick.
Less than ten days, you asked Eguavoen to stepping in as interim coach and now, you wanted to replace him and bring in another incompetent foriegn coach? What is going on Nigerians? His Amaju Pinnick owned the Super Eagles? Can’t we talk any more? Am lost for words. This so disturbing. God bless Nigeria!!!
Hahahahaha….many are the afflictions of evil men. There shall be no peace for the wicked….LMAOooo.
Rede rede ti n gbehi ere osupa ti n gbehin gbogbo and opuro ati olote…..LMAOooo.
O ma ke ku ni. Ekun egbere ti o n su lowo yi……o o sun pe o.
You haven’t started crying yet. Your sorrows have not started yet. You and all those who swapped certainty for uncertainty, tranquility for confusion, progress for retrogression……all because of hatred, you haven’t started crying yet.
E e ni duro o. Just Let anything happen to any of our aspirations between now and the 1st quarter for 2022. E e ni duro wo tan. Thank God we know all of you 1 by 1. All these prophets of baal.

Amaju and that his ritualist looking beards talks too much. My biggest fear is Nigeria not qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar. Corruption has completely eaten every sector in this country
All those who hate Rohr until eternity shall weep to high heaven. Nigeria football shall dwindle to obscurity never seen in our lifetime. Your hate for Rohr was your hate for Nigeria football. You haven’t seen anything yet. Nigerian will not come out from the group stage in Cameroon and will not qualify for FIFA World-cup. The law of karma should have run its full circle for sacking Rohr at this crucial moment in time.
The oracle has spoken. Have a merry Christmas.
Fake Oracle if Rohr is the best thing to happen to you then I feel Sorry for your mindset. I will rather progress that stall and steadily retrogress. Nigeria will fix this shit it all depends on the Next manager and NFF transparency and not how they treated Criminal Rohr who allowed himself to be used.
NFF ONIGBESE = PROBLEM
@Edoman I have the same feeling to but was scared of stating it cos I still gat love for my country. Nigeria might not come of the group stage and qualify for world cup. And I feel its just karma playing out here and the God of soccer is really angry over the sack of an innocent man…plus there is power in the tongue. After that expression “Let us fail with our own” things started going wrong. Confusion everywhere.
Pls let’s not wish our team bad, the players are innocent, we know where the fault is coming from.
At least 3 teams will qualify from our group so let’s pray and hope our young lads progress even to the final.
Let’s pray we don’t meet tougher opponents in Morocco, Senegal, Algeria that are serious when it comes to soccer.
The Egyptian we see today we’ll not see them again…..
The storm would soon be over.

Two weeks ago the Sports Minister wanted a native coach. Yesterday he was speakIng to Mourinho. The minister has forgotten that Mourinho is not a Nigerian
Only a foolish or incompetent foreign coach will agree to work with Nigeria after the last one has not been paid
Why are people so quick to want to rubbish this man. All he said was if they get a coach before the tournament proper, he is good to go, and one of them that was interviewed told him stuff about some of our players that he didn’t know, so please are you telling me pinnick must know everything that goes around all our players.
