Wilfred Ndidi has turned his focus to Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations preparations after he helped Leicester City to a ninth place finish in the Premier League reports Completesports.com.
The 22 year old combative midfielder played his 38th league game of the season on Sunday for Leicester City who were held to a goalless draw at home by Chelsea on the final day on the final day of the season.
“Season done, thank you for all your incredible support. Unto the next. AFCON preparations,” Ndidi wrote beneath a picture post of himself on Instagram.
Ndidi, a former Genk player finished the season as the best tackler in the Premier League with 144 tackles.
He was also the adjudged the 17th best passer of the ball in the EPL after he made 1,985 passes according to Premier League official website.
The Super Eagles will begin preparations for the 32nd edition of the AFCON 2nd of June in Asaba, Delta State.
They will play a friendly game with the Warriors of Zimbabwe on 8th June at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba before flying to Egypt the following day.
Gernot Rohr’s men will set up a final training camp in Ismailia where they will lockhorns with Africa’s number one –ranked team, Senegal on 16th June before departing for Alexandria – venue of their AFCON Group B matches.
Three –time champions, Nigeria will face Burundi on 22nd June in theit tournament before they confront Guinea on 26th June and tackle Madagascar on 30th June, all in Alexandra.
