Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says the need to break down Spurs prompted his decision to remove Mason Mount for N’Golo Kante in the second half.
Recall that the change sparked Chelsea into action as Kante scored in the 3-0 win on Sunday.
Chelsea had struggled to break beyond Spurs’ high press and Mount, at one stage, could also have passed to Kai Havertz who was in space on the left. He instead attempted to put Romelu Lukaku through on goal but his pass was misplaced.
Tuchel later said: “It was a hard choice for Mason Mount and it was a bit more defensive from N’Golo Kante but I wanted to give energy.
“I was not ready to talk about the spaces here and there. It was about the second balls and duels. It was about growing in confidence through energy and ball wins and higher work-rate. That was the signal to the talk more or less.”

I keep on imagining this guy Lookman in Nigerian squad wow! I fear no foe guys! I really love the way Lookman plays his football very direct with a very beautiful progressive dribbling skills. Good shooting ability, nice creative spark, beautiful crosses when needed….
Lookman is going to be a menace in the super eagles colour…. I dont really think that Nigerian international passport could be a stumbling block to his nationality switch this much but what I know is that comes one day his switch along with others will surely bears fruit for super eagles’ harvest.
Super eagles starting line-up like the following go sweet in sweet football pitch.
…………. Okoye……………
Aina …..ekong…..Balogun …. Zaidu
Aribo…………… Ndidi……….Iwobi
Chukwueze…. Osimehn….. Lookman
Meanwhile, Leicester deserves to have won this match if not for Barnes stupidity. Lookman and Ndidi all scored and they were cancelled due to Barnes foolishness by staying in the front of the oposition keeper…
This coach of Leicester needs to show more faith in Iheanacho. Maddison is completely bereft of confidence right now. Play a 4-4-1-1 with Iheanacho behind Verdy like he does for the Super Eagles behind Osimhen.
i stop watching Leicester match because the coach is playing some football politics by not playing red
hot Kelechi full time and it is really affecting the progress of Leicester
i don’t know why kelechi is still there
Brendan Rogers is a confused man… despite what Iheanacho did for them last season, he is still rating those guys like Barnes, Perez and Daka ahead of Iheanacho… I feel after this season and kelechi continues to be treated as it is now… he would leave.
High time Rodger respect his Nigerian folks, those 3guys in his disposal shd be on his starting line up if fit. Period.
I have said it before, Rodgers is not a champions league coach or a coach that can take Leicester to the next level. His favouritism for certain players has affected his judgment. He should keep doing what he is doing. Lets see where it goes.
How or why do we keep blaming Rodgers? Every coach has their type of players. Nacho has never been Rodgers type of player, so he should blame himself for whatever he is recieving. The English man I know will come asking you if you are alright only as a mockery n not because he truly cares. Let Kele continue to decieve himself that he is needed. Lookman is Rodgers type of player, so wasn’t at all surprised,he started ahead of Nacho. Very soon Daka will further relegate Nacho. We have been saying this over n over again but it seems Nacho himself doesn’t seem to appreciate his own talent, why then should I bother. Nacho should not be deceived by the few goals he’s scored for SE. IF PLAYERS LIKE SADIQ, TERRIM, DESSERS MANAGED TO HIT THE HEADLINES WITH SE, HE WILL FIND HIMSELF OUTSIDE THE PARADE, WITH HIS CONSTANT COMING FROM THE BENCH AT CLUB LEVEL.
@GLORY good talk… the only thing keeping Iheanacho relevant in Super Eagles is because he has the talent to play well if trusted… Rohr trusts him and he more often than not delivers for SE… but World Cup year is fast approaching and every player wants to be in the mix… it appears Dessers will just explode at Fayenoord again… Awoniyi is a landlord at Berlin… several good players raising the bar to get noticed… no SE player can afford to be warming bench at his club between now and January… Iheanacho’s level is not so much above the likes of Dessers, Awoniyi and Moffi if those guys begin to push serious numbers… I hope he (Iheanacho) does not go back to the level and situation he found himself at Leicester just two seasons ago…
