The New York Knicks’ power forward, who recently held basketball camps in both Port Harcourt and Lagos, emphasised the importance of providing opportunities for young athletes.
During the camp’s opening on Wednesday, August 20, in Lagos, he stated, “The most important thing is giving them the opportunity to pursue their dreams without looking back, just as I did. I understand the significance of engaging with these kids and don’t take it for granted. I am very involved with them.”
The Rivers Hoopers basketball club expressed their gratitude to Achiuwa for the renovation of their court and the camp he hosted.
“We would like to say a big thank you to @PreciousAchiuwa for giving our court a facelift,” the club posted via ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) on Friday, August 23.
“This gesture will help develop the game of basketball in Rivers State, creating a conducive environment for the next generation of players.”
The club’s General Manager, Ifie Ozaka, also praised Achiuwa’s ongoing commitment to grassroots basketball development.
“@PreciousAchiuwa has been consistent over the last couple of years in giving back to the grassroots development of basketball in Rivers State, and for that, I commend him. @RiversHoopers is grateful to him as a beneficiary of his magnanimous gesture,” Ozaka remarked in a separate ‘X’ post.
