The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has announced that the national U-12 and U-15 tournament will hold this month in Umuahia, Abia State.
According to a statement from the Secretary-General of HFN, Monica Otumala, the tournament will be staged from March 18 to 25.
Otumala also said the arrival date and screening will hold within the first two days while the matches will begin on March 20.
She emphasised on the importance of the screening which will hold on March 19 to determine those who are real U-12 and U-15 to play in the championship, warning that there will be sanction for teams, academies or clubs who go against the rules.
“All participating states/academies are therefore urged to ensure that players to be presented for the exercise are within the right age. Any erring state/ academy will be sanctioned appropriately.
“Only players who pass the screening session would be allowed to participate in the championship,” Otumala said.
She added that the winners of the tournaments and the runners up will represent Nigeria at any youth tournament as may be determined by the federation.
