The Brave Warriors of Namibia produced one of the shocks of AFCON 2023, after netting a late goal to edge Tunisia 1-0 in Group E on Tuesday.
It is Namibia’s first-ever win at the AFCON having previously participated at three editions (1998, 2008 and 2019).
Orlando Pirates midfielder, Deon Hotto, was the hero for the Namibians as his 88th minute goal secured the three points.

Tuesday’s game was the first time both Tunisia and Namibia will face each other at the AFCON.
In their three previous clashes Tunisia had come out victorious in all of them.
Meanwhile, Group E other game will see Bafana Bafana of South Africa take on Mali.

Oh how are the mighty fallen – Can we all see now??
Shouting and crying about the SE’s draw vs the Guinea that we played lol (there are too many of them o jare lool)
But see how all the “big boys are drawing? Ghana lost, Namibia have now beaten the mighty Tunisia…tweehehehehe
Omo hope is not lost – this is just confirmation that things have changed for real and there are no more minnows in African Football!
Egypt, Cameroon and all the other results are showing us that we are not even anywhere in the kind of dog house that other teams like Ghana are in – there is still hope, we must be Cote d’ Ivoire though and I am sure we can do that and progress form the group quietly!
Oya let’s gooo!
Common Namibia defeated a full fledge Tunisia team. But full fledge super eagles team failed to beat their b team(Tunisia) in 2021..
Smh…
An Italian pundit said he was not surprised Eagles couldn’t beat EQ on Sunday. He said EQ are like Spaniards of African, that their players have Spanish mentality ,play coordinated football . I won’t be surprised if they beat Ivory coast. However he blamed Osi for mising those chances he had
Had the liberty of watching the 3 games today and i can confidently tell you all that the Eagles might not go far if they don’t buckle up. This minnows are not at this tournament to sell moi moi. I feel Mauritania was robbed because the player in question was already falling. And as for Namibia they came looking hungry. Am now worried for the Eagles, will all this negative comment coming from the camp. Well i pray they get their acts together
All this na normal initial gragra, boys will be separated from men soon, it’s always like this at the start of tournament, minor teams will be showing power, big boys will still qualify from those group and go all the way. But yes this AFCON have been fantabulous, each time came prepared thanks to fifa allowing foreign born players to play for there choice country, reason we seeing good soccer all round.
@Femi, my namesake, your head dey there. Nice comment
Had the liberty of watching 2 of the 3 games today and i can confidently tell you, the Eagles might not go far if they don’t buckle up. All this small teams are here to prove a point. Mauritania was just unfortunate with that soft call by the ref. If Nigeria doesn’t go pass Ivory coast, i rest assure you the tournament is over. All this negative news from the camp is not even helping matters. Well i pray the guys change their attitude on Thursday
Super eagle player are playing to gallery. Forming and showing up because fans praises and fancy them much. They lack dedication and seriousness. They can’t qualify from the group stage. Cote d’Ivoire will beat super eagle 2goals to 1 today. Besides paserioe is a glueless coach who lack tactic
