Victor Osimhen has said the injury he sustained in Galatasaray’s league game against Kasimpasa is not a serious one.
After bagging a brace and with the score at 3-1 at half time, Osimhen was replaced before the start of the second half due to injury.
Osimhen’s absence could be attributed to Galatasaray’s collapse as they conceded two late goals to draw 3-3.
But speaking after the game, the reigning CAF Player of the Year, allayed any fears of a serious injury.
“I do not have a serious injury,” he said on the club’s website. “I felt a little discomfort. I thought I should tell my coach. If I reduced the team, it would be bad. I did not want my other friends’ performance to decrease. I told Mauro (Icardi) and the coach. That is why I left the game.”
Reacting to the Turkish giant drawing the game despite going 3-0 ahead, Osimhen expressed disappointment.
“We are unhappy as a team, we deserved three points football is like that sometimes,” he said. “You can play the way you deserve and not win. I am happy to score two goals, we are all unhappy because of the draw, we need to work hard and focus on winning the next match. I was happy with my own performance but we will work harder and try to do better in the upcoming matches.”
On playing alongside Icardi, he said:“We have a good relationship with Mauro. He is a leader. He protects us all he is also a big brother to me. It is a great feeling for me to play next to him. Everyone must see that.
“We celebrate our goals together. We are unhappy with today’s result but we will all do more. We will do better in the upcoming matches. It is a privilege to play with him.”
