Ademola Lookman has said his impressive impact with Atalanta in his debut season in Serie A does not surprise him.
Lookman scored another wonderful solo effort on Saturday night in Atalanta’s 2-0 home victory over Sampdoria.
And speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the 25-year-old who now has 12 goals in Serie A, talked about the win against Sampdoria and his impact in his debut campaign.
“We got three points, that’s the most important thing. We keep on fighting, keep on working hard.

“We take it game by game. We got three points we’ve got another game in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday and yeah, we just keep on fighting.
“Yes! Of course, I expected it (his impact) Maybe it’s a surprise to you, but I know what I can bring, I know what I can do. The team is the most important thing.”
On the reason for his improvement in front of goal, Lookman added:“Different circumstances, different scenarios that made me who I am today and that’s me as a whole person. I think I’m in the right moment, doing the right things, keep staying disciplined in what I do.”

Stay humble and focus it’s your first time hitting double digit so there’s every reason to be thankful and give the Glory to God. Morocco coach said this before their Semi final match and we all saw what happened they couldn’t even win the 3rd place. Some people will bash me for this but it’s my personal opinion of life in General that God humbles you whenever you take the credit.
I am not surprised too because I never for once doubted Lookman……He only needed a good move at club level to click his career and that is what most SE players need to kick start their careers……I think NFF should hold meetings with player agents from time to time especially the upcoming player’s agents……A single bad move at club level could derail a player’s progress without even knowing…..Most of our player’s agents are after their pockets and they ignore the player’s progress……Some clubs might offer less interms of agent fee and player’s salary but they offer alot interms of platform, development and stage…… Lookman took a pay cut to move to Atalanta with Atalanta almost getting him on a cheap but his agent knew Atalanta was where he would play attacking football, Atalanta was where he would most likely play UCL,Atalanta was where he would rob shoulder with elite players and develop further,Atalanta was where young upcoming players are always given the opportunity to play and show what they can do…… Lookman’s agent did his home work well and this is the result we are seeing today.
The performance of SE strikers in their various club brings joy and hope to all deserving SE fans . However, we should celebratw with caution and less expectations, i keep reiterating. You cannot win a tournament without a competent goal keeper. Argentina proved it in the last world cup. While both France and Argentina had good strikers Argentina’s goalkeeper was better and that settled the matter. I cringe at the taught that SE Coaches still cannot spot a National team goal keeper over 6years since Eyeama premature retirement. Even with eleven Victor Osimnens on the pitch SE fans will continue to have heart breaks until this department is sorted out.
…to see that this guy was never signed by Leicester and perceived to be surplus to requirement at RB Leipzig… Some coaches sef.
…it would have been nice to see Kelechi Iheanacho make informed decisions like this and go where he can play football. Brendan Rogers is singing in his ears again that he will be given more game time.
While it is understandable that fans are excited about the performance of some of our players in Europe, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will translate to success at the international level. We have seen this movie before.
Truth of the matter is apart from NFF’s lack of organization, the quality of players surrounding some of these players doing well currently is different from what we have in our national team. So, we should try and temper our lofty expectations with the reality on the ground.
On the other hand, NFF needs to make a considered decision on coach Peseiro. That decision should already have been made a good while ago. Digressing a bit, I still strongly believe that Mr. Gernot Rohr should have been fired after the 2018 World Cup and again after the 2019 Nations Cup. The NFF should try and not repeat their previous mistake although I’m not confident, they won’t. If they believe that Mr. Peseiro is the right man for the job then they should stick with him for the long haul, otherwise now is the time to act.
As for the playing personnel, again, I believe that the likes of Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Leon Balogun should be phased out of our national team. Troost-Ekong shouldn’t be far behind. This is the time to rejig the team. If not now, when?
I HOPE COACH PASEIRO WILL NOT BE BENCHING YOU FOR HALF-FIT, CAPTAIN AHMED MUSA DUE TO EGO, EXPERIENCE, SENIORITY. THAT IS OUR CLAIMING NIGERIA.
The man Peseiro has nothing to offer Super Eagles… He can’t even communicate in English. I think he is worse than Rohr… Let’s just do away with all those foreigners… Get a Nigeria coach, give him free hand, pay him well and set guidelines for his work.
Thanks @jimmy Ball i always enjoy your post Rohr is far better than pesciro
Lookman, your agent is a wise man.
On like some SE players that thing seating on d bench is ther limit
Guys you need to see Osiemen Goal against Roma it is world class am short of breath . We need a good coach that can bring the best out of these players. next African footballer of the year is this guy
I was thinking the same thing……..With Sadio and Salah underperforming winning the Scudetto with Napoli and top scorer should seal that for Osimhen.
Osimhen’s price just went up 150 million Euros atleast lol
Wonderful strike from Osimhen he may just win the next African footballer of the year. He deserve it honestly
