Mustashry won the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury, giving trainer Sir Michael Stoute eight victories in the one-mile contest.
The success extends Stoute’s record in the race further as the Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned six-year-old saw off pre-race favourite Laurens in the Group One showpeice.
Jockey Jim Crowley held his nerve late on as Mustashry (9/1) battled it out with Laurens after early pace-setter Ostilio faded away.
