The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has come out to admit that Ahmed Musa actually has 98 caps for the Super Eagles not 100.
While the NFF had earlier stated that Musa had made 100 appearances for the Eagles, after he featured against Cape Verde, in Tuesday’s 2022 World Cup qualifier, FIFA said he has 98 caps.
NFF in a statement on Wednesday by Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, said it deferred to FIFA’s record of 98 caps Musa, after the nullification of two of the matches he played.
The statement read:”We defer to FIFA in this regard, so Ahmed Musa has 98 caps. If he features, as expected, in the home-and-away matches against Central African Republic in October, he will clock the tally of 100 and the celebrations will follow in full flow.”
On Tuesday, FIFA said Musa’s appearances in the 3-0 defeat of Togo in a friendly match in Paris in June 2017 and the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 qualifier against Algeria in Constantine in November 2017 did not count.
The match against Togo was struck off as both Nigeria and Togo made more than the regular number of changes in the game.
while the game against Algeria in Constantine, which ended 1-1, was cancelled because Nigeria fielded an ineligible player and the result was awarded to Algeria.
Following the development, Joseph Yobo and Vincent Enyeama remain the only individuals who have made 100 appearances for the Eagles.
Musa has the chance to join the duo if he features in next month’s World Cup qualifying double header with Central African Republic.

NO BI TODAY UNA DEY MAKE MISTAKE. UNA MAKE MISTAKE ON OBAFEMI MARTINS’S AGE IN YEAR2006 WHICH NEARLY FOR HIS CAREER TO BE SPOILED.

Dem no dey ever make mistake for that side ooo. Never ever. They are experts at seizing, grabbing, holding and owing coaches’ salaries and players’ bonuses.
Na so so owe dem dey owe.
This shows how the level of NFF record keeping has degenerated overtime and I think this is the right time to educate them and remind the weak organization led by Melvin Amaju Pinnick and Dr. Sanusi the secretary of NFF that they should please start to keep accurate records of the number of yellow card(s) and red card(s) that our players are issued so that we can avoid the repeat of the ugly incident of the last world cup qualifier between Algeria and Nigeria in Algiers. Please let us use this forum and medium to please remind them always. God help Nigeria.
I agree fully with you. We need to prevent the repeat of that near mishap that happened in 2018. Let’s keep records of the carded players and make them available during each qualifying series till the WCQs are concluded.
