Wimbledon Star Admits He May Not Like Tennis

Wimbledon quarter-finalist Guido Pella admits he does not actually know if he likes to play tennis but does it to earn a living. The 29-year-old reached a career-high ATP ranking of 21 in May after taking the title in Sao Paulo, benefitting from one of the best first-serve percentages on the men’s tour.

He returned to Argentina for a break following his Wimbledon run – where he beat Milos Raonic before going down in four sets to Roberto Bautista Agut – and talked about his life on tour, including his love of Disney and fear of air travel.

“I do not know if I like to play tennis, even at the age of 29, I do not know if it’s what I like to do,” he told TV show Podemos Hablar. “I do it because I do it well and because it allows me to live from this…so imagine me training at age 14, in a boarding house, without liking tennis, only in Buenos Aires, without feeling that it was my thing.”
