Former Nigerian international Nduka Ugbade has revealed that the Super Eagles can still qualify for the 2026 World Cup if the team wins their remaining matches in the group.
Recall that Nigeria have only three points from four World Cup qualification games and are at the risk of missing the next football tournament.
However, in a chat with Brila FM, Ugbade stated that Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup are slim but that anything can still happen.
“The chances for our qualification for the 2026 World Cup are very slim,” Ugbade told Brila. “But in every difficulty, Nigeria always finds a way to do something.

“The only chance we have is to win all our matches, both home and away, against Lesotho, Rwanda, and especially South Africa.
“We have to beat them in South Africa. With a reasonable mind, I know all things are possible, but the truth is, I don’t think South Africa will want to leave their position to Nigeria.
“I’m a Nigerian, and I want us to qualify for the World Cup. Everything we can do to qualify, I hope we do it to qualify, but the truth is, I don’t think South Africa will lose two or three matches.”

We need to win those games.
And if them no win their remaining matches na ogun go kill them…
Monkey, really?
This is an unrealistic goal.
Qualifying for the playoffs is not impossible. But it will be tough. Let’s get a decent coach who will assemble a decent squad for the remainder of the qualifiers.
Six points in March will add a fresh wagon to our train of recovery.
Hopefully the NFF will get the appointment right this time.
Let’s take inspiration from CIV, who were in complete disarray after the first round of matches at the last Afcon, compounded by a crushing 4-1 humiliation by former minnows Equatorial Guinea in front of their home fans. They were hanging on by the skin of their teeth, and it was a miracle that pushed them through to the R16 after the whole country had resigned fate (as some fans are doing now).
We all know the end of the story with them as the current African champions. We just need to pick up 6 points in March while Benin, Rwanda, and SA get 0 or 1 point max, and the game is back on again! We’ll make sure Rwanda drops 3 points while Benin and SA cancel each other out with a draw.
There’s enough time to make amends. A coach appointed now cannot make excuses. Let Gusau do the right thing. Finidi was a major error and watching the laidback training clips, I knew we were overconfident and going to a nuclear war with catapults and dane guns.
Kel how market nau fullish triblastic bombastic? lolz – how far wit yuh an yer igbe? lolz please bring yer frind shima p daniels out nau . ask hin se how marketu?? lolz

Hope u guys are watching how Georgia a nation of 2.7m population with only the guy from Napoli and there GK from Valencia the only players from a top team and yet they leading mighty Portugal by 2-0 with the almighty cr7 oooo, yes we need good and quality coach, but do we have players ready and fully dedicated to the cause? Clubs players played for matters but without that zeal and desire to play for ur NT, trust me we aren’t going no where. Passion for the game and ur nation is much more important than playing for a big team.
True talk. A good coach plus committed players is the formula. Most of our current players have lost passion. They prefer to party, go to AY live or Sabinus shows, and stroll into camp 5 hours before the match, and Finidi still fielded some of them.
The new coach must find committed, disciplined players and ship out anyone who won’t shape up. Kvaratskhelia is practically carrying the Georgian team on his shoulders.
Sir, they cannot win all their remaining matches. They cannot beat Rwanda and SA Infront their home supporters. They can struggle their ways with others but these two teams NO way
Impossible is nothing o with a good coach and players with a we-die-there attitude. Shaibu did it with the set of Okocha, Aiyegbeni, Kanu, and co, going away to beat Sudan 4-1 when we were in a similar situation in the race for the 2002 WC, I think.
Interestingly, Shauibu was appointed to save the situation too back then, and he delivered. We’ve been here before. Unfortunately, they never allowed the man to reap the fruit of his labor.
17 yellow cards and 2 Red cards in a single match? This ref. Need to be questioned, he sure gat beef for Czech, they fought gallantly throughout the match but for one yeye ref. That was determined to see them exit the euro.
Nigeria can’t qualify for de 2026 period…..
Just get some eba n agusi n chill at home better tins are on their way going like they went to cata.
Nigeria team de chicken eagles aren’t good, plenty talk, too known, not going anywhere….. Stop de useless mathematics.
What upsets me most about these Ex Internationals and Local Coaches back home is that. They will a cause all these confusion, Make so much Efforts to sabotage our team knowingly or unknowingly then when it all blows up in our faces the clueless imbiciles will be the ones to demand and say we have to win our remaining games. I am fed up of all these old corrupt fools in Nigeria!
UGBADE IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT ALL OF UNA YOU AND ODEGBAMI THEM IT IS YOUR FAULT WE ARE IN THIS POSITION. YOU BASTARDS WILL NOT LEARN EVEN IF WE MISS THIS WORLD CUP COME NEXT WORLD CUP IN 4 YEARS YOU FOOLS WILL DO THE SAME SABOTAGING EFFORTS. YOU WILL BEGIN TO CLAMOUR FOR NPFL PLAYERS BECAUSE I AM SURE THE LEAGUE WILL STILL BE THE SAME CORRUPTION WILL NOT ALLOW NIGERIA IMPROVE THAT SAME LEAGUE THAT IS FAST BECOMING THE BANE OF SUPER EAGLES EXISTENCE, YOU PEOPLE WILL STILL START CLAMOURING FOR THE SAME COACHES WHO IN 4 YEARS WILL NOT HAVE BETTERED THEIR COACHING LICENSES THEY WILL JUST WAIT FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFICATIONS TO START AND THEN COME TO MEDIA AND START ADVERTSING THEMSELVES FOR SE COACHING POSITION BECAUSE THEY ARE EX INTERNATIONALS. WE WILL MISS ABOUT 6 WORLD CUPS BECUASE OF THIS BEFORE THESE CRIMINALS GET INTO THEIR HEADS, PROBABLY WHEN WE ARE ALL DEAD AND GONE THESE EX INTERNATIONALS ESPECIALLY AND NFF CRONIES WILL NIGERIA FOOTBALL HAVE A CHANCE AGAIN, BECAUSE WITH THIS MENTALITY IT IS GOODBYE WORLD CUP FOREVER, UNLESS OFCOURSE THESE FOOLS IMPROVE OUR LEAGUE. BECAUSE AS IT STANDS NOW THESE PEOPLE ARE CAMPAIGNING TO REMOVE ANYTHING EUROPEAN FROM SUPER EAGLES BOTH PLAYERS PLYING THEIR TRADE THERE AND COACHES FROM THAT REGION!!!
