Newly crowned LaLiga champions, Barcelona have concluded plans to sign Golden Eaglets defender, Yahaya Lawali.
Lawali was one of the key stars in the Golden Eaglets side that was eliminated in the quarter-final stage at the ongoing 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria.
The 16-year-old claimed the Man of the March prize in Nduka Ugbade’s side first two games against Zambia and Morocco.

The right-back was also recognized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), who included him in the group stage Best X1.
Barcelona are however not the only club interested in his services with top clubs in France and Belgium also keen.
Another Spanish club, Sevilla are also interested in the player.
Lawali’s versatility is one of his major weapons as he can also play at left-back and in midfiled.

Many of these players have lost a great opportunity to market themselves and change their Fortune…
I saw highlights of the Senegal vs Burkina Faso game and I noticed the Golden eaglet would have given Senegal a good game..
Of a truth, many of the boys were over confident, some wanted personal Glory and played for themselves and not for the team.. they were shooting recklessly and not giving the ball to other players in better positions…
The coach also disappointed and didn’t come with a good bench.. those comparing him with Bosso don’t understand football.. bosso is a no nonsense man, if you mess up in a single game just know you will chop bench till the tournament finishes.. none of the strikers that played the u20 afcon made it to the world cup, and ogbelu who made the error that presented us going to the final game didn’t make the team to the world cup..
My question is what was that u17 defender doing in the pitch, he scored an own goal against Morocco yet he continued to play all the game, until he finally cost us ticket to the world cup.. that’s poor coaching.. was there no other defender on the bench ready to give the starters a run for their money…
It is sad that a good team will likely be stunted due to avoidable errors
Irrelevant post from someone who thinks football is a game of magic where if you snap your finger bad will turn to good. If its that straightfoward why are you not coaching any of the national teams?
Now we have lost, shebi all of us will rest… Go and employ ugbade as he has been sacked
Bro NFF didn’t allow our star players e.g Okere, Mbata, Oyebanjo bcuz of their stupid policy
That means it was not CAF that screened those boys out. We are deceiving ourselves because there was no U.17 among other competitors
It was NFF who stopped those boys. They were within MRI scan result required for the tournament according to CAF and FIFA statutes… It was NFF that caused us not to qualify for the world cup. NDUKA UGBADE begged them to allow those four boys but NFF said they must have MRI scan result of Grade 4, meanwhile CAF and FIFA said Grade 6 is the cut off. Those boys dropped had grade 5… One less than the cutoff which was still more than good.
Lawali is ripe for the Super Eagles. No need to beat about the budh. He will be mentored and learn a lot by camping with the more senior players
