Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel played a key part as Middlesbrough were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United in their English Championship clash at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.
Mikel was on from start to finish in the keenly contested encounter between two teams who are in the fight to secure Premier League berth.
It was Mikel’s third game in all competitions for Middlesbrough and second Championship game since he linked up with the club on a short term deal during the winter transfer window.
The former Chelsea ans Tianjin Teda midfielder was handed a starting shirt in the team after he was rested for midweek’s Emirates FA Cup fourth round replay defeat at Newport County.

Lewis Wing scored to give the hosts the lead three minutes after the break following a pass from George Friend.
Leeds United equalised through Kalvin Philips deep into stoppage time.
