Celta Vigo are reportedly keen on agreeing a permanent deal for Southampton winger Sofiane Boufal, but only for a lower fee. The 25-year-old joined the La Liga club after two largely unhappy years on the south coast and was loaned out Celta Vigo at the beginning of the season.
He made 35 appearances for them in La Liga, scoring three goals and now the club want to try and sign him on a permanent basis. A clause was inserted in his loan deal stating they would need to pay 16million euros to sign him on a permanent basis from St Mary’s but now they are reportedly keen to try and lower the deal to around 8million euros.
Southampton have been keen to get rid of as many higher earning players as possible since Ralph Hasenhuttl took charge with Cedric Soares and Wesley Hoedt among those told they have not future at the club. Boufal and Southampton are keen to part ways after he only scored four in 66 appearances, despite being a then club-record signing when he joined in an £16million deal from Lille.
