Jordan coach, Adnan Hamad, has suggested that the Atlas Lions of Morocco could be the surprise team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Atlas Lions are ranked 22 in the World and are the only African nation to ever top their group at the FIFA World Cup, achieving the feat in Mexico ’86 in a group that included England, Poland, and Portugal.
In a chat with Aljazeera, Hamad praised the Moroccan team and all the players in the squad.
“The Moroccan team is considered to be the best Arab team playing in the Qatar World Cup,” Hamad said.

“It has 20 professional players from major European Leagues. In the qualifiers, it passed with flying colours and has a major chance of progressing from the group.
“I believe that the Moroccan team has the best set of players, and the opportunity is in their hands to be the dark horse of the tournament.”
Morocco are in Group F at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Croatia, Belgium, and Canada. They will play their first game of the tournament against Croatia on November 23 at the Al Bayt Stadium.
Morocco have qualified for the FIFA World Cup six times; in Mexico ’70, Mexico ’86, USA ’94, France ’98, Russia 2018, and Qatar 2022.
