Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has expressed strong optimism that the Serie A side can secure the service of Argentine superstar Lionel Messi if he decides not to extend his stay at Barcelona when his current contract runs out in 2021.
Six-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi will see out his current contract with Barcelona at the end of June 2021. And Moratti believes that if the talismanic forward who will turn 33 this June remains adamant on not extending his Camp Nou stay, Inter have what it takes to make him happy.
In the meantime, the possibility of Messi agreeing and signing a new Barcelona season looks farfetched, especially after rowing with some board members this season.
“I don’t think it’s a forbidden dream at all. Maybe it wasn’t even before this misfortune,” Moratti told Radio Rai of the Barcelona captain who had been linked with Inter Milan switch.

“Messi is at the end of his contract and it Would certainly be attempted to bring him home.
“I don’t know if this situation will change anything, but I think we will see strange things at the end of the year.”
Messi’s compatriot Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan is reportedly on the radar of Barcelona who believe he can be a good replacement for
Luis Suarez in the long run.
Moratti said: “He [Martinez] is a very good lad, he cares about his career. But, as I said before, we have to see if it’s part of an operation for bigger players like Messi.”
