Elliott Moore says he is ready for a “great challenge” after completing his move from Leicester City to Oxford United. Former England Under-20 international Moore made his way through Leicester’s academy since joining the club in 2003 and captained the Under-23s side during his time at King Power Stadium.
The 22-year-old defender never made a senior appearance for the Foxes and had spent the last two seasons on loan at Belgian outfit OH Leuven, where he played 55 times. Moore was hoping to be in Brendan Rodgers’ plans this season but, after hearing he wouldn’t be part of the first team, the centre-back admits he needed to leave and the permanent move to Oxford fits the bill.
He told the Oxford Mail: “After two years away in Belgium I wanted to go back to Leicester and my priority was to try to get into the team there. I want to play first-team football and that wasn’t going to happen there. “I heard Oxford were very interested and it was my priority to get out and play, so somewhere like this is hopefully going to be a great challenge and experience for me.”
