Brighton youngster Jayson Molumby is confident he can earn a first-team spot in the coming weeks after returning from injury. The Irishman has spent over 12 months on the sidelines with a knee injury but he recently returned to Under-23s action.
He played 45 minutes in Friday’s Premier League 2 win over Manchester City before then being named on the bench for the FA Cup win over Derby County.
The 19-year-old has watched a number of his Under-23s teammates make the step up this season and he is confident he can follow suit.

Molumby told the club’s official website: “I’m one of a number of players who’ve been involved in the first-team set-up this year, and we’ve had a lot of the lads step up from the under-18s into our group as well. “It’s all about developing players and bringing them up through the ranks, so it speaks volumes about the progress of the academy as a whole. “Saturday showed the path is there – we had me, Leo [Ostigard] and Viktor [Gyokeres] on the bench and Viktor got on too, so it proves what this club is about.”
