Luka Modric has reportedly made it clear to Real Madrid that he is prepared to take a significant pay cut in order to secure a new contract with the Spanish champions.
The 35-year-old’s current deal at the Bernabeu is due to expire at the end of June, meaning that he is free to discuss terms with foreign clubs over a switch this summer.
The Croatian is said to be determined to sign an extension with Zinedine Zidane’s side, though, and according to Cadena SER, the experienced midfielder has offered to take whatever pay cut is required.

The coronavirus outbreak has significantly impacted Madrid’s finances, and it is unclear whether there will be funds for Zidane to improve the squad during this summer’s transfer window.
Modric has made 371 appearances for Los Blancos since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, winning two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and four Champions League crowns.
The 2018 World Cup finalist has again been a key player for the La Liga giants this term, meanwhile, scoring four times and contributing two assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.
