AC Milan director Zvonimir Boban insists Luka Modric did not move to the San Siro as he could not leave Real Madrid after a poor season. Modric is now in his eighth season at the Bernabeu and has won most things the sport has to offer with Los Blancos, including the coveted Ballon d’Or.
However, it seemed as though he might quit Spain for Serie A over the summer after it was suggested that he was keen to join the Rossoneri.

However, no deal materialised and the man capped 122 times by Croatia remains a Real player.
Compatriot Boban has now lifted the lid on the saga and suggested that Modric could not leave the club on such a low after a disastrous 2018-2019 by the club’s previous high standards.
Boban told Sky Sport Italia: “He is a big Milan fan, and has been ever since he was a child, so he had the passion to join us. “However, we never got into concrete talks, he didn’t want to leave Real after a bad season.”
