Serie A giants AC Milan are discussing a potential loan move for Manchester United Marcus Rashford.
Rashford has struggled to be part of Ruben Amorim’s project and could look to revive his career in Italy.
He has not featured for United since December 12, with his only recent involvement being an unused substitute appearance in the clash against Newcastle.
Everything points towards the 27-year-old forward leaving the Red Devils in the January transfer window.
Several clubs across Europe are reportedly exploring the idea of signing the forward, with Sky Sports (via besoccer.com) reporting that AC Milan are one of them.
The Rossoneri are searching for reinforcements up front given their injury woes and lack of output with the current set of forwards.
Christian Pulisic is the club’s current top goalscorer with five goals this season, but he has just recovered from a muscle tear.
With Rafael Leao and new singing Alvaro Morato unable to provide a lot of goals, the United youth product could be a candidate to rack up the goals for Sergio Conceicao’s side.
A potential move could also present Rashford the opportunity to reignite his career in Serie A after a troubling period in England under Ruben Amorim.
The same source reports that the transfer would only be possible on a loan deal as Rashford’s hefty wage makes it impossible for the Italian giants to acquire him permanently.
Negotiations have not begun between the two clubs as United are yet to receive offers from any clubs for the English star, but discussions are being held internally at AC Milan.
While a loan move would not be the ideal choice for the Premier League side – as they would have to keep paying a share of the player’s wages – Gianluca Di Marzio reports that United may be convinced as the operation resembles that of Jadon Sancho.
The Chelsea winger was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund after a torrid spell under Erik ten Hag which helped to increase his value before his transfer to the London club.
