John Obi Mikel and Trabzonspor have parted ways by mutual consent, the club has announced.
Mikel only joined Black Sea Storm as a free agent on a two-year deal last summer, at the end of his brief stint in the Championship with Middlesbrough.
The 32-year-old played a crucial role in helping Trabzonspor soar to the summit of the Super Lig this season with 19 league appearances.
While no reason was given for the mutual termination of the contract, the club announced the former Chelsea midfielder gave up his remaining wages.

Last Saturday, Mikel criticised Turkish football authorities for not suspending the Super Lig season despite the spread of the coronavirus across Europe .
The former Premier League star stated he does not feel comfortable during the Covid-19 outbreak and called for the season to be cancelled.

Good job mikel. Your word should be your bond in some circumstances. what the hell is wrong with turkish soccer authority? valueing soccer matches more than peoples life?
As Igbo People say: Ndubuisi – life (or health) is number one!
Mikel, you are a Man and a born leader. Leaders make bare their minds regardless if their opinion is a popular one or not.
You, Mikel, are indeed a true leader. Kudos to you.
He quite literally put his money where his mouth is. I knew something was amiss when he wasnt in the lineup on Saturday especially after his critical comments. Mikel has shown to be a man of principle.
