Simon Mignolet’s agent says he still wants to leave Liverpool this summer despite Jurgen Klopp’s recent comments on his future. Having played 155 Premier League games for the Reds, Mignolet has now been pushed to the bench and featured in just two cup games last season.
Alisson Becker is the Anfield outfit’s undisputed number one keeper, winning the Golden Glove in both the Champions League and Premier League in a superb campaign both personally and for the club last term. Manager Klopp issued an update on the shot-stopper on Sunday, stating: “Will he stay? I would say yes.”
However, it seems as though the German’s words could prove to be hollow after his agent, former Huddersfield Town keeper Nico Vaesen, suggested that the Belgium international wants a new challenge to see more game time.
“The goalkeeper game of musical chairs hasn’t started yet,” he told Les Sports Plus. “It’s important for Simon to play somewhere, and our goal is still to make him leave. “He’s still got a lot to offer, and if we have an offer, we’re counting on Liverpool making an effort.”
