Are Mexico the England of The Americas?
What do Mexico and England have in common?
Like England, Mexico will usually dominate and dispatch teams that they BELIEVE are inferior to them.
However, when higher ranked teams that traditionally give them problems come knocking, Mexico will kowtow and submit meekly. Call it a mental or psychological block. It is real, and it is there.
It has been joked about so often. If you put 11 pregnant women on the pitch against Mexico, and give them the Argentina or Brazil jersey, sit back, relax and watch Mexico collapse!
They just beat Ghana. However, this same Ghana team are likely able to obtain a decent result against Brazil or Argentina. However, Mexico will pretty much unfailingly lose against Brazil or Argentina, because they don’t BELIEVE they should be getting a result against these kind of teams.
Granted, England have a bit more fight in them against big teams compared to Mexico. But eventually, the result turns out to be the same. English surrender.
The tide seems to be turning with the current crop of talented players available to England. However, it remains to be seen whether they can get past that mental/psychological block, that has always historically stopped them against higher ranked teams.
