Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri has showered encomium on Victor Osimhen after the forward inspired the club to a 2-1 victory against Cagliari on Saturday night.
Osimhen scored and grabbed an assist in the thrilling contest played at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The 24-year-old opened scoring for the Serie A champions in the 64th minute.

His assist for Napoli’s second goal scored by Kvicha Kvaratskhelia was a beauty.
He drew away six Cagliari players and managed to pull back from the by-line for Kvaratskhelia to score at the far post.
“I am glad that he and Kvara scored, because they were both looking a bit irritable. They needed to get back to being protagonists the way they were last season,” Mazzarri was quoted by Football Italia.
“I can’t blame the team for getting tense, as it felt like in the first half the goal was cursed. When strikers are not relaxed, they can make really simple mistakes.”

Osimhen has once again proven he is a striker of the highest quality. His African footballer of the year award was well earned.
More to come from this extraordinary football player.
Mazzarri is spot on. More hailings, Osimen.
candidly, no striker as hot as he’s right now. He needs to continuously keep his eyes on the ball. Success is battalion.
Bcos of two goals since he return back? And that against weaker teams braga and Cagliari? Where was he when inter and juventus beat them? Let the young man enjoy his game and stop with the overhype pls.
You called this over hype!!!! Common, let’s stop killing what needs to be celebrated. It’s bad attitude. He did not score against Juventus and inter but he was returning from injury. But He has scored against Juventus before. He has scored in champions league.
I m surprised you called a team in the Italian league known for rugged defending small team.
Sometimes, we can just be matured enough to stop ourselves from commenting si that we won’t push ourselves to write some nasty things.
@Femi I wondered what happened. I used to read and enjoy your comments here.
Well, whatever you say, I still get over that assist. With that assist he deserves to be handed the another APOTY immediately!!!!
Even the goal scorer ran towards him to celebrate him. All the players celebrated him instead of the goal scorer.
What an assist that was!!! I watched it over and over again. We have done about two to three posts on it on Facebook already.
Let’s celebrate what is worth celebrating and condemn only what needs to be condemned
Anyone still doubting Osimhen’s quality by now is either Ignorant of football or blinded by hate.
@ Christian ministries you sure got me wrong, my reason for saying that was simply because the guy said osimhen is the hottest striker right now, are you telling me you buy into that by calling someone who is just returning from injury hottest striker at the moment? Yea know doubt he is up there as usual among the best, and VO is my fav all the time, I just didn’t believe the word hottest shd be use for him at the moment, let him keep banging in the goals and rescue his team from they dreadful season they’ve have so far.
Femi is right Osi has not been spectacular against top clubs in Serie A. Don’t think this is due to inability but lack of passes from team mate.Unlike Lookman who has been terrific against big clubs because he receives adequate balls frequently. Osi is struggling to score because of shortage of passes. It’s as if the team wants to force him to another club. One thing sure if Osi has 3 chances he will mak use of 2 .
Besides he needs to be more focused and stay away from media. He has no where to hide ,defenders’ eyes on him
@reciprocal I understand your views. But he has scored against teams like Chelsea in champions league and against Juventus. Well just as you have said the supplies he is getting is a big problem.
But he can’t avoid the hype. He is too player. You don’t produce such performance and assist like that and stay away from the media. In fact let us make all the noise about him just like the British media and people do for their players.
He only needs to be focused ad you said.
