Dominic Matteo believes former employers Liverpool would benefit from signing Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.
The Reds are in a two-way battle with Manchester City for the Premier League title this season while Jurgen Klopp’s men have also progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Last season, Liverpool lost to Madrid in the final of Europe’s elite competition as Wales international Bale netted twice in the 3-1 victory at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev.
The former Tottenham Hotspur star is reportedly set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and there are a number of clubs, including Manchester United, keeping tabs on the situation.

Ex-Scotland international Matteo, who played at Anfield from 1984-2000, has suggested a move for Bale would be good for the Reds. “With Bale, when Madrid beat Liverpool in the final, he had that bit of X factor,” he told the Liverpool Echo. “Liverpool could maybe do with one more X factor player to score in the finals. “That’s what we’ve lacked that bit of X factor to get us over the line.”
