Arsenal have reportedly entered into talks with Ligue 1 outfit Marseille over the transfer of Eddie Nketiah, with the French club’s opening offer submitted.
Nketiah has struggled to get regular starts in the 2023/24 season, with Kai Havertz often being preferred and Gabriel Jesus also ahead of him in the pecking order.
Despite signing a new, hefty contract in the summer of 2022, a departure for Nketiah seems likely in the coming weeks as Arsenal look to raise funds.
Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna has disclosed that Marseille have made an initial offer for him as Nketiah is keen to join the French club.
It has also been noted that talks with the club are currently ongoing and discussions are progressing on personal terms for the Englishman.
Marseille have appointed Roberto De Zerbi as their new manager and signed Mason Greenwood from Manchester United for £26.6 million.
With Nketiah also a homegrown academy star, sporting director Edu will no doubt push for a substantial fee, preferably higher than what Marseille paid for Greenwood.
