Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that midfielder Romeo Lavia’s injury is more severe than that of his teammate Enzo Fernandez.
The extent of their absence remains uncertain, but Maresca expressed hope for a swift recovery for both players.
“Romeo is a more important [injury] than the Enzo one, We don’t know how long they will be out… both injuries were against Bournemouth. Muscular problems, muscle issues,” the manager said after Chelsea’s win against Wolves on Monday night.
The injuries to Lavia and Fernandez add to Chelsea’s current challenges, as the team navigates a demanding season.
Maresca has previously expressed confidence in the club’s defensive capabilities and has been considering potential moves in the transfer market to bolster the squad.
In recent weeks, he has been vocal about various aspects of the team, dismissing the possibility of recalling players Santos and Ugochukwu, and praised Jadon Sancho for his consistent performances.
These statements reflect his strategic approach to managing the team amidst the ongoing injury concerns.
Meanwhile, Chelsea ended a run of five consecutive games without a win when they overcame Wolves.
Goals from Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke secured the win for the Blues.
The win took Chelsea up to fourth place, just one place ahead of Manchester City on the log.
