A statue of Senegal and Bayern Munich forward, Sadio Mane, has been unveiled in his hometown of Bambali.
Mane who joined Bayern in the summer after spending six years at Liverpool, continues to do incredible work in Bambali – a village in the south of Senegal.
The 30-year-old donated significant sums of money to help improve the conditions of the remote village, including a sum of £500,000 for a new hospital, and recently pledged a reported £200,000 for a new secondary school to be constructed.
Also, he is said to have funded a fuel station and a post office to help locals.
To pay tribute to his hero-like status in the local community, a Senegalese artist has designed and built a statue of Mane.
The statue has Mane donning the Teranga Lions colours.
Meanwhile, the picture of the statue in Bambali has been doing the rounds on social media in recent days.
One fan commented: “It’s not the best, but it’s made from the heart I guess.”
Another wrote: “Nice body work but on the face, let them replace it with a better head. Anyway, wood maybe hard to work with, I think.”
And a third said: “It’s all about recognition. Not everyone will have the privilege of being recognised and honoured like that.”
Mane is expected to spearhead the Teranga Lions at this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The reigning African champions are in Group A with hosts Qatar, Netherlands and Ecuador.

I use this OPPORTUNITY to call on the NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT to do something like this for AHMED MUSA to APPRECIATE him for the JOY he brought to FANS on the PITCH and all his PHILANTHROPIC GESTURES off the PITCH…
You don’t expect Govt to do everything for you. The one above was done by a patriotic
Senegalese. If you are a true patirot, do yours and stop calling Govt.
Thank you for the ADVICE BRO..I will look into it.. But even though I want to ERECT something like that for MUSA, I still need the Gvt APPROVAL cos I will like to ERECT outside the MKO ABIOLA NATIONAL STADIUM ABUJA..
If not for the Senegalese Jersey, you will think it’s one idol statue stolen from a near by Shrine. This one is not Mane I beg. You people can do better.
Scary looking sumfin. See as the statue open eye, loool.
I no fit laugh. Please who did this job na? He didn’t do well at all. The facial work is totally bad, especially the eyes…….but it’s a good move.
The idea was superb, but the art works was a shame, a disgrace and shocking. Benin artists would have done a better job. If they don’t know where to locate Benin, google it. They could be found at the World famous, Igun Street. Benin City, Edo State. Nigeria. They will not miss it.
