Manchester City edged one of the most thrilling English Premier League title races last season ahead of Liverpool, whom they finished just one point in front of at the end of the campaign. Pep Guardiola’s side are now going for their third straight league championship success this season in which the bookmakers make them the odds-on favourites to come out on top again.

Guardiola’s main target this summer was a holding midfielder and the City boss was able to strengthen in that department with the signing of Rodri for just over £68 million from Atletico Madrid as reported on their official website at www.mancity.com/news/. Pep is confident that the Spaniard is going to be a key part of City’s team for many years to come.
City fans were sad to wave goodbye to their skipper Vincent Kompany at the end of last season. The Belgian has signed for Anderlecht where he will be their player-manager. They have also let go of Fabian Delph who has moved to Everton. Otherwise, it is the same City squad that has had so much success domestically over the last few years.
Although a successful defense of their Premier League title will be the minimum expectation on City this season, they will have an eye on the Champions League as Guardiola has yet to win it since moving to England in 2016.
Champions League Winners Liverpool Now Eye Domestic Success
Liverpool’s disappointment of falling short in the Premier League last season was soon forgotten about as Jurgen Klopp’s men were able to land the Champions League following success over Tottenham in Madrid.
Remarkably, Liverpool lost just one game in the Premier League in the 2018/2019 campaign. They had a nine-point advantage at one stage of the season but defeat to Manchester City in January was a big turning point in the champions overcoming the deficit they had to make up. A full match report of that game points out how close Liverpool were to taking at least a point: www.theguardian.com/football.
The bookmakers have Liverpool as their second favorites in the Premier League outright market at 13/5 and those looking to place a bet on last season’s runners-up should look to www.sportsbettingcanada.org to find the best sports promotions ahead of the new campaign.
Klopp has been able to keep hold of his star players this summer and, therefore, it will be the same squad that tasted European success earlier this year.

One of the teams outside the top two in the Premier League that will be delighted with the way the transfer window has gone for them so far is Arsenal. The pick of their deals so far is their signing of Nicholas Pepe from Lille. The Ivory Coast international was linked with a number of major European clubs but the Gunners were able to secure the deal for the region of £72 million.
Unai Emery has also added a defender to his squad with William Saliba who joins the North London club from St Etienne, while Daniel Ceballos has signed on a season-long loan from Real Madrid. Emery will be hoping the business his side have done will help them break back into the top four this season.
After what has felt like a long summer without football, it is going to be an exciting campaign ahead in the English Premier League.
