Manchester United suffered yet another injury setback after midfielder Marcel Sabitzer sustained a knock during the pre-match warm-up before Sunday’s game at Nottingham Forest, Athletic reports.
Sabitzer had to be replaced in the starting line-up by Denmark international Christian Eriksen.
The Austria international is now one of 10 senior United players sidelined through injury.
Left back Tyrell Malacia was omitted from United’s matchday squad due to a sore knee, leaving Erik ten Hag with no option but to deploy right-back Diogo Dalot as a left full-back.
United are already without first choice centre-backs Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.
Martinez has been ruled out of the season with a fractured metatarsal, while Varane is expected to be out for a few weeks.
Fellow defender Luke Shaw is also missing after picking up an injury during the 1-0 win over Brentford earlier this month.
Marcus Rashford, United’s top goalscorer with 28 goals in all competitions, has missed his side’s last two games but could be available for the second leg of his side’s quarter-final encounter with Sevilla on Thursday.
Scott McTominay was not named in United’s 20-man matchday squad, while Donny van de Beek and Alejandro Garnacho are long-term injury absentees.
Reserve goalkeeper Tom Heaton rolled his ankle before the international break so Jack Butland is currently deputising for David de Gea.
