Manchester United are reportedly in talks to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford, leaving Chelsea to fear a last-minute hijack.
Brentford are expected to release the striker before Friday’s deadline, as the Englishman is attracting attention from both the Premier League and Saudi Arabia.
Despite their heavy summer spending, Chelsea are believed to be considering a bid, and the Blues are optimistic that the Bees will accept a lower asking price.

With just one year remaining on his deal, Brentford view this summer as their best and last opportunity to secure a substantial fee for the Euro 2024 star.
According to reports, the London club is seeking around £40 million for their talisman, a significant drop from the £100 million+ valuation placed on him during the January transfer window.
According to The Evening Standard, as reported by the Daily Express, United have held discussions with Toney regarding a move to Old Trafford.
The three-time UEFA Champions League winners have not yet submitted a bid, and negotiations are not believed to have progressed much.

Toney has not made an appearance for Brentford in the Premier League this season.
Since making his debut for Brentford in the 2020/21 season, Toney has played in 141 matches, scoring 72 goals and providing 42 assists across all competitions.
Toney featured for England in the 2024 Euros in Germany, with his major highlight coming in the quarterfinal against Slovakia, where he provided an assist for Harry Kane’s winning goal for the Three Lions after being subbed in by manager Gareth Southgate.
