Manchester United midfielder Casemiro suffered an ankle injury during Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Venezuela in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The qualifier which took place in the early hours of Friday morning saw Casemiro substituted after 79 minutes.
Brazil took the lead in the 50th-minute through Gabriel Magalhaes until Eduard Bello made it 1-1 in the 85th minute with a stunning overhead kick.
Head coach of Brazil Fernandeo Diniz provided reporters with more detail on Casemiro’s departure.

“As there was a stop (in play), I decided to make the three substitutions,” Diniz told Globo Esporte, via manutd.com.
“We had a lot of control when they came on. Casemiro asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle.”
The severity of the problem is unclear and it remains to be seen whether he will feature in Brazil’s second match of the break, against Uruguay on Wednesday morning.
Also, United fans will be hoping the 31-year-old will be fit for the Red Devils’ Premier League clash with Sheffield United next Saturday night.
The former Real Madrid midfielder has made eight Premier League appearances this season, scoring one goal.
He helped United win the Carabao Cup last season after a six-year trophy drought.
