As the name indicates, the marathon would cover Festac and its environs, with the kick-off point being in Festac.
The 10 kilometer event would see participants take off at First Avenue, race through the 4th, 5th and second avenue with an extension to Apple junction in Amuwo Odofin local government before terminating at the flag off point.
According to the Organisers, in recognition of the place of Festac in the country’s cultural annals, the decision to hold a marathon of this magnitude is to throw the spotlight on the town and consequently, revamp its image and re-establish its fading socio-cultural significance.
Also, it is to boost the town’s relevance in the state’s social circuit by piquing the public’s curiosity about its potential in terms of investment and development and for the residents and non-resident in that axis, to have their own sporting event of international repute as well.
