Newcastle have been linked to Olympiakos and Greece left-back Leonardo Koutris but could face competition from Everton. The Daily Mirror claim the Toffees have joined Newcastle in scouting the Brazilian-born player, who has established himself as an international this season.

Koutris has played 16 times for the Pireus club in the league, where he has provided four assists, and he has also impressed in the Europa League. Newcastle have been scouting targets in Greece this season so it is no surprise to see the Magpies’ name linked – given Rafa Benitez’s need to sign a quality left-back.
January loan signing Antonio Barreca has made little impact since arriving at St James’ Park and he looks unlikely to be kept on for next season. But Everton surely have other priorities after pulling off the £18million capture of Lucas Digne from Barcelona last summer with the French left-back having largely had a good season.
