Gary Madine admits his agent was not as keen as he was to make the loan move to Sheffield United in the January transfer window.
The on-loan Cardiff striker ended a 24-game goal drought when he scored for the promotion-chasing Blades against Reading last weekend, and his overall display suggests he will be a key player for them in the run-in.
Madine admits he was a bit taken aback when he first found out that manager Chris Wilder was a fan of his – particularly given his reputation among fans of the Sheffield club.
“Our goalkeeping coach at Bolton mentioned that Chris liked me, and I said ‘I’d love to go there’,” said Madine.
“My agent wasn’t so keen because he knew the move would split opinion, but I know the way I play would be appreciated by the fans. “I’m never going to get them out of their seats by beating three or four players, but I put in 100 per cent every game and work hard. I’m glad they appreciate that and it was nice to top that off with a couple of goals.”
